Microsoft office is spectacularly slow on macOS(although it works amazingly in Windows 10). I recommend not doing any heavy work in the Microsoft office sweet in macOS. The iWork sweet is keyed to the apple ID that first bought the mac.

Free if you bought a new Mac. They would come pre-installed.
Garageband had two editions: Basic and extended. On new Macs it had basic, the extended version contains extra samples, more piano and guitar lessons, and the possibility to buy extra artist lessons. Even if you had a Mac, you still needed to buy the in-app extension pack. For those with Hackintosh/CustoMac, the only legal options were to buy directly the extended Garageband, the basic one could not have been acquired legally, it wasn„t even technically possible, probably, to make piracy of it. Now, the extended GarageBand is available for all Mac users. Also, Hackintosh/CustoMac users get for free not just Garageband extended, but also iMovie (El Capitan and Sierra) and also iWork (Sierra). Apple allowed those who acquired Mac OS X to use for free, without support, like we did in Tonymac„s for years, but did not allowed iLife and iWork, we need to buy those to use them. Now it allows us to have those for free as well. Basically, on GarageBand, the basic edition was removed, the only GarageBand available is the what it was known previously as the extended edition.

what is better to use . MS Office or iwork ?

For me word is a little bit slow ...
Ms Office is a bulk of bloat, most users do not need it. I recommend LibreOffice, it is almost 100% compatible with MS Office formats (unlike iWork), much less bloated and resource hungry, and completely free (unlike Ms Office). It kinda of removes on macOS some unarchiving options on the Open Document Format (used by LibreOffice and OpenOffice.org), that were build in macOS, but that is about it. To get a full compatibility with Ms Office format, after you finished editing a document, you can upload it in the free Ms Office online on Onedrive, for the finishing touch.

The iWork sweet is keyed to the apple ID that first bought the mac. I bought my air used so I had to pay for it. But I still got it for free when I had to do a factory restore, it pushed it back to the osX before Yosemite. I downloaded the iWorks trial. After upgrading to Yosemite I was given the free iWorks set.
Would not this be piracy, and a violation of this forums„s terms and conditions?

As it was done all throughout the store, I didn't believe so and it was not my intent. But I'll edit my post to be safe.

edit: After further reading: I thought that it was an upgrade service connected to yosemite, however it appears to very grey. Lets stay away from it. :)
