Confirmed works on my rig with iMac17,1, MSI 1070 Gaming X. Took a bit to get going. Got the error 5mb ram bit and only 1280x1024 resolution - Problem 6. Updated to recent clover with EMUVARIABLEUEFI-64 selected to fix that problem. Next I got problem 4 - the black sleep screen. So I booted with nv_disable=1 to get to my desktop , mounted my EFI partition and loaded Lilu.kext and NvidiaGraphicsFixup.kext into my efi/clover/kexts/other, then rebooted. Everything works like a charm after that.

Not a bad heaven run for its first time on this card.

Hi jesuschristus, I have almost the same setup as yours, only my MB is an ASUS Gryphon. Did you have to do anything special to get it to work? I'm planing to do the upgrade but I am worried about compatibility with the Z87 and the powerful but old processor.

Ok - I just switched out my 960 for a 1070. BIG difference. I did have a few hiccups though - all BIOS related. I updated my nvidia driver a few days ago in anticipation of installing a 1070 card. When I switched out the EVGA card for the new Gigabyte card, I could not get any video to my monitor. I ended up connecting my monitor to my motherboard's DVI port to get to the BIOS. I basically had to reset the BIOS to get the new card to output video. Once I did that, I could get to the boot screen via one of the DisplayPort connectors on the new card. Then, the Clover menu wasn't at my screen's native resolution anymore. To fix that I had to install the CsmVideoDxe driver using Clover Configurator. Whew! Now all is well and working fine. Here is a screenshot of the before and after in the Heaven benchmark at my monitors native resolution.

I just bought this: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Windforce OC to use on my current Sierra setup. I'll be using it mostly for Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator. I currently have an nVidia GTX 660, so hopefully the speed improvement will be noticeable.

Will post updates when I get it!

Does anyone here have problem with 3D text rendering on FCP 10.3?
the text are just playing peekaboo and exporting project will not include 3D text.

On March 3rd I sent a pretty desperate (and poorly worded, apologies) group email out to Jensen H. Huang (CEO of Nvidia) and Tim Cook (CEO of Apple) essentially begging for Pascal chipset support
...
I really do get the notion that Nvidia’s team wants to be out here with us, delivering support for MacOS probably doesn’t make nearly the impact on their revenue that the gamers or deep learning crowd out there would, but the fact that they did this for us is incredible. Continue to show Nvidia your love, people!

Excuse the cheesey long first email, I was really just trying to paint a picture of how important Nvidia/Mac usability is thru the only angle I’m familiar with: filmmaking (I'm no hackintosh aficianado, I only understand how important Nvidia cards are for software like Resolve, the Adobe suite, etc). Was an honor to hear back from him, I can’t believe my email is what finally made it happen after a year or more of our communities starting to lose hope.

I just wanted to say that your initial email in the imgur put my entire train of thought into words for Nvidia, probably the same for many of us. On the last feature length film that I worked on I had plugged an Akitio Thunder2 with a GTX 970 into a real MacPro6,1 just to handle 4k drone footage. The nMP (6-core, dual D700's) was still excellent in DaVinci Resolve for handling Red Epic Dragon 6k footage ONLY WITH a rental Red Rocket X in my Akitio T2 (and external PSU). I could transcode at up to 105fps. Smoking! BUT trying to scrub through and do initial color on 4k drone footage was so painful on the nMP that I finally plugged in my 970 and was able to scrub footage and work again. Been waiting almost a year, since release, for 1000 series drivers. Still torn about how long Apple thinks it'll take to get a modular Mac Pro out to market. That gap can only be filled with a hackintosh in the meantime. Nearly made the complete transition to Win10 as others have but still hanging on by a thread because I still far prefer my workflow in OS X.

Just got the card. Tested Luxmark.

Just add CUDA driver and the around 320 point up!

Nice!

For FCXP// 5k rendering takes average 28sec.

Not bad as a Nvidia card.

On March 3rd I sent a pretty desperate (and poorly worded, apologies) group email out to Jensen H. Huang (CEO of Nvidia) and Tim Cook (CEO of Apple) essentially begging for Pascal chipset support on Macs. I have read hundreds of pages of threads waiting on Pascal support for Mac all over the web, lot of dead ends, lot of sad people giving up and selling chipsets. In an effort I considered to be completely futile, I decided to start digging around and seeing if I could find contacts and reach out to at least one of these guys, maybe they’d simply delete the email, maybe it’d never get through a filter, or best case scenario they’d at least forward the email to someone who could at least write the idea on a post it note.

What happened was even better. Tonight the CEO of Nvidia emailed me back informing me that my email was the decision Pascal has come to MacOS, that previously he had no idea it was wanted. Thanks to communities like this, the eGPU community, the creative editors and VFX artists and the colorists over at LiftGammaGain.com, I was able to present that there was certainly a corner of the world that wanted this. Though I haven’t heard back from Tim Cook and likely won’t, I can’t say how much it means to hear back from Nvidia’s CEO so candidly. Reaching out made this happen, and I never thought the day would come. My initial effort was basically a "eh can't hurt to send an email".

I really do get the notion that Nvidia’s team wants to be out here with us, delivering support for MacOS probably doesn’t make nearly the impact on their revenue that the gamers or deep learning crowd out there would, but the fact that they did this for us is incredible. Thanks for sharing. :)

May I ask what applications you use that sees a big difference when using a Pascal card instead of Maxwell? OpenCL focused software (such as Final Cut Pro) seems to see no benefits over AMD GPUs.

Just installed an EVGA GTX 1060, and installed Sierra. Two problems:

1. My non-Thunderbolt Cinema Display is connected via a DisplayPort to mini-DisplayPort adapter. It is working, except that it is not recognized as a Cinema Display and the only resolution made available to me is 1024x768. The OS seems to think it is a projector. I suspect the adapter is interfering with EDID or something. Is there a way to use EDID injection to make my hackintosh identify the monitor correctly?

2. There is some flickering. Screen-wide horizontal ripples when I logged in, for example. And flickering in the Siri pop-up window when it is invoked.

Advice would be appreciated.

Oh, also, should this card have Metal support?

EDIT: I installed the latest Clover on the internal boot drive and most problems went away, and it reported Metal support. The only remaining problem was that the login screen was black, with a mouse pointer. I typed my password and it logged me in, revealing full Cinema display resolution, and the rippling was gone.
