MacOS Sierra - ASRock x99 Extreme4 - Mini Guide

Sorry to bump a (relatively) old thread, but I'm also encountering the ++++++++++++ issue following this guide.

It gets stuck on "legacy shim 2" for a moment, and then turns into the madness that you see attached to this post. I've looked at a ton of different guides, and this seems to be one of the few Extreme4 X99 builds that has a guide to it, so I was wondering if there was any chance you could help me troubleshoot. I can run with -v in the bootflags if that would be helpful.

Essentially the +++ error, from my experience, means that Clover is not able to boot due to hardware incompatibilities either due to insufficient RAM or unable to identify the CPU freq or clock properly.

But if your boot passes the +++ signs and outputs other errors then it's probably a specific kext from the bootloader that isn't working properly and panics the kernel. I suggest going into the BIOS and disable everything you don't need (USB 3.0, Ethernet, Audio) and see if it boots the installer.

If it installs then you'll be able to install the proper kexts and then enable them once again in the BIOS.

Hi Cruxado

I tried to install Mac OS Sierra 10.12.3 on a Gigabyte X99-SLI with a Xeon E5-2609 1.7 ghz, 8 cores which seems to be the same as yours. I prepared a UniBeast installer according to your guide but I cannot go past the +++++++++++ signs. Any suggestion?

Thanks

Hi all! I'm sorry for not reply earlier! I never received the e-mail notifications to replies to this post. My apologies.

I'm glad many of you have been able to boot your systems up and have it at least 90% functional. As I stated on my original post I have this computer as a server which NEVER sleeps and is ALWAYS on. As such I disabled the audio and also never really tested the USB port performances. Currently, the server is 2000 miles away from me so I can't help you guys out.

I have a Xeon E5-2609 which is detected as UNKNOWN but shows the correct clock speed of 1.7ghz and all 8 cores on iStat Menus APP. Try searching for your specific CPU on MacOS and how others have been able to get it showing working properly.

As for the Sleep, make sure you have the correct P-state C5 or C6 in the BIOS. Just google it up and see what shows up.

I had a similar issue with the USB 2.0 at the time of install. The BIOS has a legacy option for the USB so make sure that is enabled! I had to have it enabled in order to get a RocketRAID card to start up as well, just and FYI

------

Again I'm no expert but I wrote this in order to give you guys a system that would at least bootup! Good luck to you all!!

Hello there, It looks like I found what I was searching I followed the installation guide and created USB with unibeast, but I am very noob to these thing. where are these settings on BIOS:
  • Vt-D : Disable (You can enable it after OS install if you wish)
  • Intel Virtualization Technology : Disable (You can enable it after OS install if you wish, if you do you musr REMOVE dart=0 on your plist)
  • Aboce 4G Decoding : Disable
  • Serial Port : Disable
  • C6 State : Disable (You can enable it after OS install if you wish)
I have this:
Asrock x99 Extreme4 P3.30
Intel Core i7-6800k 3.40Ghz
64gb DDR4-2133
Geforce GTX 1080.

and rest of your instructions is the same thing mine?
haalp me please. I want turn my PC to Hackintosh too. Any and every detail helps
thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks Cruxado for this thread. I have the X99 WS and have been able to get past the ++++++ with a E5-2695 v3 using your instructions. I am currently trying to solve a reboot once I get to IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState.

I think this 'could' be an issue installing with 10.12.4 and 10.12.5 in my case. Can I ask what version your installer app was? Just out of interest (and only if you have time) can you recreate and boot from your USB installer with the latest version of the app? (or anyone else that had success with anything pre 10.12.4 and 5). It would be very interesting to know if it works.

Thanks :)

Scratch that, managed to get a previous version of the app from a friend and it made no difference. Has anyone else had the IOConsoleUsers error on these boards?

Firstly, sorry for such a late reply. I don't regularly check this site.

Please refer to the BIOS guide from your motherboard to view the settings.

The dreaded Plus Sign error could be due to the UEFI driver installed in your boot USB. As mentioned you should do the following.
EFI > Clover > Driver64UEFI folders and remove the OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi and OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi and add the OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi

If the error persists then you may have an 'unsupported' CPU. You may need to replace the FakeSMC.kext for your system. You can get around this by Enabling the KernelCPU fix included in clover. Found under the KernelAndKextPatches section in the Clover settings prior to boot. Set KernelCpu to true

Ellnic, honestly I never encountered the "IOConsoleUsers: gIOScreenLockState" error. So I wouldn't know where to start. As for the installer I used 10.12.0 I updated the OS to 10.12.4 but my server locks up. I need to have someone physically soft reset it. Maybe your issue may be related. I'll look into it.
