Recommended BIOS/UEFI Settings for Beginners

When I try to enter BIOS (by holding down delete) nothing happens. I'm use a Mac keyboard. Do I need to get a traditional PC style keyboard?

I figured this out - you can ignore my post.

After selecting the USB in bootloader, the install never begins. The white screen and Apple logo appear, but no load bar appears. I was not able to find all the variables in the recommended BIOS settings.

1. To access BIOS/UEFI Setup, press and hold Delete on a USB Keyboard while the system is booting up
2. Load Optimized Defaults
3. If your CPU supports VT-d, disable it
4. If your system has CFG-Lock, disable it
5. If your system has Secure Boot Mode, disable it
6. Set OS Type to Other OS
7. If your system has IO SerialPort, disable it
8. Set XHCI Handoff to Enabled
9. If you have a 6 series or x58 system with AWARD BIOS, disable USB 3.0
10. Save and exit.

Did you get any solution?

Did you get any solution?

I recently learned that my Pascal 1050 Ti was unsupported and my have been causing some issues, so now I am acquiring a Maxwell replacement. But about hammering out the BIOS settings, no.

I plan to "upgrade" to a Gigabyte Z77x-d3h rev. 1.1 mainboard.

I have two very separated "systems" in my current PC(Win7 64bit)/Hackintosh (macOS 10.9.5) - which I can boot separately via a switch from different disks (ssd for Win7 and hdd for macOS 10.9.5). (Additionally, I can start a third OS from another hdd with Win10, but not using it).

The current mainboard (GA-Z68x-ud3h-B3 rev. 1.1/ Bios F12) works for both starting disks (or, to be correct, for all three starting disks).

I would like to know, if I could/should (or should not) use UEFI on the soon to be installed Z77x-d3h board (with i5-3570k/Ivy bridge processor) AND, at the same time, use the two or three different start disks (Win7 64, macOS 10.9.5 or even Sierra).

Again, I would like to know: can I use the possible UEFI setup for the Hackintosh, as well as for the Win7 64 on a separated starting disk. What should I consider/avoid?
Thanks

PS: I have no experience with UEFI

Don't mix UEFI and legacy installs on the same system.

After reading more on UEFI and BIOS I am sure that I am still not enough confused to give up.

My most burning question currently are:

1) can I easily take my Win7/64 starting 512 GB (SDD) disk from a mainboard (GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 rev. 1.1) with BIOS F12 and transfer it to the (hopefully soon arriving) mainboard GA-Z77X-D3H (probably BIOS F16) - and then change that mainboard's firmware to UEFI without reformatting the disk?

2) can I easily take my macOS 10.9.5 (different starting disk, 500 GB HDD) from the above mentioned Z68X mainboard to the Z77X mainboard - before or after getting UEFI firmware on the board?

3) Or: should I install UEFI (somehow) first and then reformat the two sdd and hdd disks for Win7 and macOS ???

4) Or might it be just the safe side: try to have everything still in BIOS and try to get the latest 10.11 or 10.12 macOS.

PS: currently I have Chimera v.2.2.1; Mac Pro 3.1 (so I may even change this to Mini 14.2 to get Sierra...). Sorry, it's getting late in Europe and I am too tired to write in better English.
