[README] Common (some unsolved) Problems in 10.12 Sierra

Hey @RehabMan, I know you usually don't look at Sierra beta releases but on 10.12.4 beta 2, do you have an issue when booting where Mac is really laggy? When the PC first boots the transition animation from the Apple logo to the Desktop lags a lot and if you look at the time in the upper-right corner, the seconds will jump by 2 instead of the regular 1 second. Also if you try to move the mouse, it will lag as well. After 20-30 seconds, the lag is gone, but wondering if you have the lag on your PC when your tried the newest beta? I will try Beta 3 to see if it fixes the issue but wanted to ask the question for anyone who tried the betas.

Ok here is my file. Keep in mind my config.plist attached, I removed the serial number mentioned in SMBIOS. Also originally I did use MacBookPro11,1 SMBIOS and just switched to 11,5 to see if it fixed the lag which it did not. Also if you look in my kexts, I have Shiki and AppleALC, but I did try removing those to see if it was causing the issue but it didn't. Lastly, IntelBacklight.kext no longer allows adjustment of Brightness which it did before upgrading to the beta. I am thinking it might be due to NightMode that Apple introduced in this beta.

Use MacBookPro11,1... make sure you change the board-id too.
All kexts you need should be installed to the system volume (kext injection is only for the installer and recovery partition).
I don't use Shiki.kext nor AppleALC.kext in my guide (you seem to have files from my Envy guide).
Also, I don't use SoundFlower either.
And I don't know what the uncommented patch for AppleHDA does (it is in your config.plist, Find=<41c60600 488bbb68>).

IntelBacklight.kext still works, but no longer with the system provided facilities (not working brightness keys, and SysPrefs->Displays... still works with Brightness by bergdesign). I'll look into the details of why later.

Ok I will go back to MacBookPro11,1. The uncommented patch for AppleHDA I find fixes headphone switching for my Envy j-070. I got it from AppleALC for the IDT92HD91BXX. You mentioned SoundFlower, I don't recall that listed, what is it?

What do you mean by "fixes headphone switching"? Specifics?

It is something you installed (and forgot you installed it?).
It is shown in your ioreg.

Oh maybe it's EqMac. I installed it to have an equalizer for Mac so maybe it uses SoundFlower. Everything else I used your Envy guide and just made some slight changes. The headphone switching issue when you plug in headphones and the Mac still shows "Internal Speakers". I first thought it was a placebo effect, but ever since I applied that patch, headphone switching is working like it should. By the way, I went back to the proper MacBookPro11,1 and copied all of my kexts to your default location of /Library/Extensions and the lag when booting into Mac is still there even on 10.12.4 beta 3.

Probably a new problem then. Or something related to what you have installed...

You could try a fresh install for comparison...
You could also try MacBookAir6,2.

Yeah hopefully it was just a bad update on my system. I will try the other SMBIOS that you mentioned. Wanted to bring this to your attention in case Apple did change something that will have to be looked at down the road.

Edit: MacBookAir6,2 actually does feel a little more fluid than MacBookPro11,1 but that stupid lag is still there. It will probably have to wait for me to do a clean install, but one thing I've noticed is in System Information > Graphics/Displays it now shows Connection Type as DisplayPort. Never notice that under the other SMBIOS so that probably is related to the MacBookAir6,2?

No idea without "Problem Reporting" files. It is possible something changed in the framebuffer kext.
