[Solved] El Capitan sleep/wake problems!

Status
Not open for further replies.
I already read in some thread that was not possible to have PM with ATI cards but I hoped that in the meanwhile some fixes were released.
BTW, thanks very much VolietDragon for your support and I'll wait to have a solution in the future.

If you find a solution. It will be good to post to the community about it.

DSDT doesn't have XWAK. Doesn't require to be patched.

Thanks @VoiletDragon. I removed the XWAK patch from my ACPI patched folder & from config.plist & rebooted & no change to the wake issue still present.

Is there a way to get some kind of "error" log to find out where the error comes from? Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

I tried on my terminal:
syslog |grep -i "Wake reason"
and I get nothing but this NOTE
NOTE: Most system logs have moved to a new logging system. See log(1) for more information.

I also tried:
log show --style syslog | fgrep "Wake reason"
and nothing shows on my terminal & I have to "ctrl+C" to get out to regain control of my terminal prompt.

Finally, I am just looking at what PikerAlpha mentions in this recent blog thread of his: "Debugging sleep issues" but I can't seem to find the PMStatusCode in my IOREG. Can you find it? Thanks a lot.

Sierra has a new Log mechanism. You can find where the logs are saved by using Google.

@KDL18:
Using IORegistryExplorer, I believe if you select IOPower from the top left drop down list, then highlight IOPMrootDomain in the left pane below this, you can then read PMStatusCode value in the right hand pane.

Hi @Wanderer3, Thanks so much for the info. I looked at the IOPower -> IOPMrootDomain but I can't see the PMStatusCode on the right hand pane. Can you see it in my attached IOREG?

I wonder if my wake from sleep issue (frozen display/system/keyboard after wake from sleep) can be related to a cable in my setup as mentioned by viccan (who had a different case & issues with a riser cable from its PCI-E slot)? https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...gaming-7-980ti-6gb.205519/page-7#post-1432574

I looked at my sleep assertions & it seems fine as far as I can see...

@KDL18, I had a look at your file, but I can't see PMStatusCode, this is a bit over my head to be honest, some of the much more experienced and knowledgeable guys like Rehabman could probably breeze this, and maybe point you in the right direction.

Thanks so much @Wanderer3 for looking into this. Can you help @RehabMan? Attached are my IOREG + EFI/CLOVER files (without themes). Thank you.

Hi @VoiletDragon, I looked at my syslog & can't seem to find anything related to "Wake reason", but I did see many "wake" related warnings. I don't know enough to debug it.

Is there anything else I can look at to debug my "wake from sleep" issue? I noticed that my USB ports never "power off", even after a shutdown. They still provide power to any device (mouse, hard drive, keyboard) attached to it, even when PC is turned off.

Here are a few pics of my hardware setup. Maybe there's something I'm doing wrong as far as cabling (though all seems to work well). Thanks so much.

Ioreg looks fine although you are going over the 15 Port Limit.
