I'm currently building my third hackintosh. I bought some new parts, most notably a large SSD, more RAM and a GTX970 graphics card. My motherboard is a Gigabyte Z87-HD3.

Next is the selection of drivers. Everything should work out of the box except audio, network and video. Audio was working without a problem (ALC892). But for the network I don't know what to choose. In my build from 2014 I picked Realtek > RealtekRTL81xx v0.0.90. MultiBeast Sierra 9.0.1 doesn't have this option. The Realtek options listed are RealtekRTL8111 v.2.0.0, RealtekRTL8111 v.2.1.0d1 and RealtekRTL8111 v.2.2.1. I tried two of these (can't remember) but without success. Which one should I choose?

Another question: can I run MultiBeast twice? The second run, can I select every setting again without having duplicates or should I only select the new drivers? How to uninstall a driver (just by unchecking)?

@blold, please update your profile (personal details) with your build (Motherboard, CPU and Graphics Card).
The Rules said:
Profiles need to contain at least your primary system to assist others with helping you.

RealtekRTL8111 v.2.2.1 from MultiBeast is currently the latest version and should work on your build.

If it doesn't work check and remove any previous installed network kexts from the following locations:
  • /System/Library/Extensions
  • /Library/Extensions
  • /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.12/
  • /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/

You can download and copy the RealtekRTL8111.kext to:
  • /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.12/
  • /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/

Or you can download KextBeast 2.0.1 and RealtekRTL8111-v2.2.1 and:
  • Place RealtekRTL8111.kext from the RealtekRTL8111-v2.2.1.zip file on your desktop.
  • Run KextBeast installer
  • Select the destination folder: /Library/Extensions
  • Reboot

Another question: can I run MultiBeast twice? The second run, can I select every setting again without having duplicates or should I only select the new drivers? How to uninstall a driver (just by unchecking)?

Yes you can run MultiBeast multiple times. You should only select the new items/drivers you like to install.
Drivers need to be uninstalled manually.

Thanks for the excellent answer. I will try a new install this weekend.

I also updated my profile with my hardware.

Ok, finally had some time to do a new installation. Almost everything went smooth: audio is working, nVidia drivers installed without any problems (took me 2 minutes), bluetooth (with a iogear dongle) is working (sometimes lagging but that used to be a problem on my previous hackintoshes, sleep works, even deep sleep!

Multibeast did the job installing the drivers.

There is one problem and it's ethernet! Somehow ethernet isn't detected. See the attached screenshots. There is no Ethernet in network preferences and I get an error 'Preferences Error: There was an error in Network preferences'. Luckily, I have a USB dongle for ethernet. This works with a 100Mbit cap. I thought I finally managed to end the installation but the lack of Ethernet gives other problems. Most notably: the App Store can't be reached. When trying to log in I get the error 'An unexpected error occurred while signing in. Your device or computer could not be verified.' It seems the App Store need a working ethernet connection to function. Also, I'm unable to install 1Password, which is an essential application for me, even when installing outside the App Store. I think it's also related.

The RealtekRTL8111.kext is installed. And KextBeast is also installing the RealtekRTL8111.kext, at /Library/Extensions and /System/Library/Extensions. This is weird!

Update: the 1Password issue is unrelated.

I tried installing Ethernet drivers but without any luck.

I ended up using the NullEthernet Kext and was able to access the App Store. I followed this guide: http://www.computertechplace.com/ap...gnized-fix-for-laptops-without-ethernet-port/. So I have network access with the USB dongle (at 100Mbit capped) and I can access the App Store. I will continue with this build. Next step for me is the installation of Windows 10 on another disk.

So, the installation was much harder than before. Other than the problem with the network drivers, this system seems to be more stable than previous builds.

Are you sure you have the GA-Z87-HD3 mobo and not the GA-Z87X-D3H.

The GA-Z87-HD3 uses the Realtek LAN, and the GA-Z87X-D3H uses the Intel LAN.

Yes, I just checked: it's a GA-Z87-HD3 with a Realtek chip. Ethernet did work without issues on my previous hackintoshes (with the same mobo). Maybe the hardware is failing. I can check on Windows when I start the dual booting process (which is also harder than I thought).
