Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5
CPU
i7-6700K
Graphics
RX 560
Mac
  1. MacBook Pro
Mobile Phone
  1. Android
  2. iOS
Step 1. Do a Multibeast install of Realtek 1150 and Audio 100

Step 2. Reboot. I still had no sound. If you do, you can probably skip step 3.

Step 3. (You need to mount EFI first) Added this to clover acpi patched folder (extract first):
https://github.com/toleda/audio_ALCInjection/blob/master/ssdt_hdef/ssdt_hdef-1-100-hdas.zip

THIS (step 3) IS WHAT FIXED IT FOR ME.

Now I had analog sound, now for HDMI/DP audio.

Step 4. (You need to mount EFI first) Install this:
https://github.com/toleda/audio_CloverHDMI/blob/master/audio_cloverHDMI-120.command.zip
(I said yes to all except the nvidia thing)

Now if you reboot, you still don't have the sound. You need to remove something in config.plist (backup first!)

Step 5. Edit your config.plist and remove this (in ACPI/DSDT/Patches):
The whole (Rename HDAS to HDEF) part

DO NOT REMOVE THIS UNTIL YOU'VE DONE ALL PREVIOUS STEPS. My removing it BEFORE step 4 would always lead to auto-reboot.

Step 6. Reboot and you should have sound over HDMI/DP!

PS. I take no credit, all thanks to toleda

Thanks!!! Next time I'll try it that way, seems extremely streamlined :)

Step 3, first, makes Step 5 and 6 unnecessary.

Suggest:
Step 1: Mount EFI/Install ssdt_hdef-1-100-hdas.zip
Step 2: Restart
Step 3: Mount EFI/MultiBeast/ALC1150 or audio_cloverALC-120.command.zip
Step 4: audio_cloverHDMI-120.command.zip
Step 5: Restart, onboard and HDMI audio

i've got sound on my setup by downloading AppleALC drivers from Github and pasting it to my kext folders on the EFI partition before installing your audio_realtekALC-110, but I have no luck trying to get HDMI audio to work. Is it safe to continue from step 4 without suffering from a boot loop? (can't afford to experience one right now)

Quick update.

I upgraded to Sierra, it was a MESS. Had to switch to an HDMI cable to avoid having a black screen, then switch back to DisplayPort and it ended working at some point.

Once DP worked, had to redo the sound. I tried the way toleda recommended in post 2 but for my setup, I really needed to do step 5 from post 1 again (in ACPI/DSDT/Patches) after.

So,

Step 1: Mount EFI/Install ssdt_hdef-1-100-hdas.zip
Step 2: audio_cloverALC-120.command.zip
Step 3: Restart, now there should be analog sound
Step 4: audio_cloverHDMI-120.command.zip (say YES to HDMI/DP 0x7 question)
Step 5: Restart, still no sound over DP at this point
Step 6: Edit your config.plist and remove this (in ACPI/DSDT/Patches): the whole (Rename HDAS to HDEF) part
Step 7: Restart, DP sound should work

upgraded to Sierra, it was a MESS
When installed correctly, working HDMI audio in El Capitan works after the Sierra update; no need to run cloverHDMI.
cloverALC is required after the Sierra update for onboard audio.

Oh, I'm sure I'm to blame, don't get me wrong! I tried everything to get DP working again instead of HDMI and most likely screwed up stuff in the process.

I'm merely mentioning that the steps still work for this motherboard under Sierra for future forum searches.
