I have never had control of the CPU or case fans in macOS, nor have I ever gotten any RPM readings. This is true of all the system definitions I've tried (MacPro3,1, iMac14,2, and iMac171,1).

All of my fans are controlled by bios and they automatically ramp up and down based on CPU temps. They were all set by the Asus AI Suite in Windows.

I have never tried to retain serial numbers when changing system definitions and have no idea whether it works or not.
Thx for the info. You´re right... I leave it as it is. Never change a "sleeping" and "running" system.:headbang:
best
Michael

It worked. Thank you so much. And guess what..... I now have SLEEP. Don´t ask my why, it just worked.
And now comes the "but":
Looking at iStats, my CPU fan still stands on zero rpm. On the other hand, the two GPU fans are giving results. Installing of the HWSensors binaries (newest version) doesn´t change anything. When I open my case, I can clearly see all fans are running.
Is it a BIOS thing? In BIOS, I put my case fans to PWM.
Or is this behavior a result of my SMBIOS Mac 3.1? Because of my skylake architecture, should I switch to iMac 14.2? And if I switch, what about my serial number? Can I keep it?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Dear pastrychef, I'm glad you solved all your issues now. I tryed to do it "the right way" so i made a clean install, disabled USb ports (thanks to pastrychef's research an mapping!)an even aplyed APIC fix as suggested in ammulder's guide . The system its running solid but I'm still with sleep issues. I was wondering if you be so kind to share your p.list with me in order to compare with mine. Right now I'm rechecking every piece of hardware looking for something faulty buy i tend to think that its a software issue.
By the way: HW sensors are not working propperly since el capitan or earlier . I had them working fine on my gygabite mobo, but i had never been able to get fan speeds on this ASUS board. Apparently its posible, but you need to compile a custom DSDT for you motherboard

Hi Jiojimbo,
Did you put the "255" in your USB fix for the internal Bluetooth port? I think this does the trick for me, because my "wake reason" was something with USB. On some other forums it's stated that my Broadcom WiFi/BT card has something to do with the "no sleep" issue...

*Just thinking out loud

No I didn't ! I'll take a look at that too. I'm rechecking p.list and hardware to find the issue. Thanks for the head up I'll re-read the thread to look for the 255 detail

This is the guide I used:
Download the starter SSDT source here: View attachment SSDT-USB-Template.dsl

You should open MaciASL, close the file it creates by default, and select File/Open and point it to that DSL template.

If this is your first time in MaciASL, go to MaciASL/Preferences..., then the iASL tab, and select ACPI Specification 5.1and close the preferences.

You need to make the following modifications to the file in MaciASL:
  1. Add entries for all your HS** and SS** ports that are used. Copy one of the sample entries for each additional entry you need.
  2. For each entry:
    1. Change the name before the Package entry to match the port you're defining here
    2. Change the comment alongside the entry to describe what port it's for
    3. Change the code after "UsbConnector" to be one of the following:
      • 0 if it's a regular USB2 connector ("Type A") or a USB2 motherboard header
      • 3 if it's a regular USB3 connector ("Type A") or a USB3 motherboard header
      • 10 if it's a USB3 Type C connector
      • 255 if it's an internal Bluetooth device or other "proprietary" type of connector
      • There are more values in the ACPI specification, but I'd be surprised if you needed them.
    4. Change the first value in the Buffer after "port" to be "0x" plus the first two digits of the port code you wrote down for this port.
  3. Set the value in the port-limit field above the individual entries to be the same as the highest port value among all the entries you have. Normally this is the one for your highest-numbered SS** port.

Yes its the same that I used, from amudler's guide. I even used as a template pastrychef's ssdt on page 65 of that thread I already added the 255 for my internal used usb 2 ports and Im going to check it again just in case i made some typos .. tnx

uia exclude in clover configurator? Hi had to do a whole bunch of ports to come near the 15 ports restrictions...

Yes I have uia exclude on my p.list and showing correctly on clover configurator. I disabled 7 ports in total and io Registry Explorer shows a correct count now.
Unfortunatelly this didn't solve my sleep issue yet. I have triyed every single option in pmset settings and no luck at all. Its a little bit dissapointing as its the only flaw on my system ( appart from hwsensors, but we know its a lost cause).

I made various clean installs, unplugged EVERYTHING but my GPU , made usb fix, follow a bunch of threads an nothing... so I ran out of ideas for now...
