Do you know if your method of cleaning the case works with other apple products? I mean, iPods (like the acrylic in the ipod Video, iPod Photo, etc, etc) or in the iMac G5? even with the first version of Macbook?

Greetings!

Hey thanks for this post. I soldered the powerboard button thing like you did, but I do not now where to put the LED jumper on. Is it just one cable? For me it looks like so. First I put it onto the HHD LED pin on the mobo. The result was, when I pressed the power button, the led flashed. Now I put it onto the power LED pin and there is no light.
Thank you very much

Hope the OP is still reading here. From your pics, it looks like you have routed some of your cables outside the case but inside the plastic shell. Got any pictures? I'm planning to do the same, at least for those cables that end up at the outside edge of the open case.

Sorry for being so late... I only drop by every now and then. To answer Your question, no, i did not put any of the cables between the inner case and outer plastic shell. But i want to do that at some point, probably when i put in a new board... I was thinking on it though and if i´m going to do it i will need to cut some openings through the door as the cables are either too thick or openings are in the wrong places etc. . I also want more ventilation, which definitely requires cutting...

As you can see i got rid of the control-chip. As far as i know it does serve no purpose anymore and i did not know how it would react to my alterations. I put in new lines were i did not have a direct connection to the ribbon cable. I used the former programming-button as reset because it is a little recessed and hard to press by mistake. Thus i connected current to pin 2 of the ribbon cable. The LED works, the only thing necessary was a connection to common ground. When i was done i hid the cable in a blue sleeve, that was it.
I found my write-up of the pins on the switch-panel:

Common Ground Pin 7
Power Switch + Pin 9
Reset Pin 2
Power LED Pin 4

Could you help me with this?
Did you just remove the control chip? Didn't have to take a trail?
You reused the original cable, could you help me identify it?
