Oh man, I messed up.

So, as I was preparing the Yosemite / Clover USB book drive and accidentally installed Clover to my authentic MacBook Pro HDD. My question to you good people is how do I undo the damage and return my real Mac back to working order. I haven't tried rebooting and terrified of doing so. I can see the newly created:
/boot
/EFI/
EFI-BACKUPS/

but I'm not certain what exact changes the installer made to my EFI partition and whether I can revert back to a previous stage without having an image of the EFI partition. I'm running 10.9.5 on my Macbook Pro and I installed the Yosemite Clover version to it if that helps. Oh, bugger.

Is your MacBook Pro still on? If so, let's start by backing up all your important files to a flash drive/external hard drive or other removable storage.

Next, if you'd like to keep Mavericks installed on your MacBook, download it from the Mac App Store. You should be able to download it again if you have in the past. If not, you may have to update to macOS Sierra, so download that if you don't have the Mavericks installer.

Lastly, use the createinstallmedia command in terminal to create a genuine Mac OS X Mavericks/macOS Sierra installer for genuine Macs only. See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372

You may have to reinstall your OS, but at least you can recover your MacBook Pro!

Best of luck, keep me updated. I'll check this page frequently to help you.

Thanks for your response, Spencer. Yes, my Mac is still on. Question: if I backup everything using Time Machine, will Time Machine back up my EFI partition as well. Say, I delete the newly created files and directories in / and run Time Machine, will that do?

I was trying to avoid re-installing Mavericks but if that's what it will take then so be it. I already have a USB drive with Mavericks install media on it so I'm good there.

Yes, Time Machine should back up your EFI partition. If you can run time machine after deleting those newly created directories then your MacBook should be recoverable. Just to be safe, I would still back up important files to a removable storage device.

Hopefully you won't have to reinstall Mavericks. Best of luck!

I did the same mistake few days ago. From my understanding of efi partitions it just a small disk with boot program, deleting everything and putting back files from EFI-BACKUPS should be enough.
Still havent restarted my mbp, I just put it to sleep, but just in case I created bootable sierra installation usb drive.

I don't think installing Clover to a real Mac will have any effect on normal Mac boot.

Oh it certainly does, when you reboot you get black or grey screen with repeating chime.

You probably did something more than install Clover.
Use Recovery to remove whatever you added.

That does not work no keyboard shortcuts work at all, it only boots to that screen no apple logo, no loading sign at all, inserting a genuine mac install usb does not work, can't reset SMC, PRAM can't reinstall the os, can't boot in single user, can't boot in target disk mode, can't boot in recovery, can't get to boot options menu, reseting the main board (by unplugging the battery) does not work either. I think I broke the U.E.F.I. chip on the main board and may have to get the entire thing replaced..

oh and btw I did not INSTALL clover I booted to a drive with clover installed on it.
