Whenever I leave my computer for about 10 minutes or so, then I return back to use it, the computer lags and freezes for 30 seconds before it becomes usable again. However, when I use my computer for 6-7 hours straight without any breaks, it works fine without any lag. It only happens when my computer sits idle for 10 minutes or so.

I've turned off any "energy savings" setting

Energy Saver:
Never turn off display
Checked: Prevent computer from sleeping
Unchecked everything else

Asus Z170-A
Intel 6700k
64GB RAM
EVGA 740 4GB SC
Samsung 960 Pro 512GB

I had this problem! I still haven't narrowed down to whats actually causing it... but I've noticed something is related to my secondary SSD drive attached (not the primary). When I remove/disconnect it from the motherboard, I have no issues. When I reformat the drive (and restore through TM) I generally have no issues. I have ASUS as well. Try disconnect all drives, if you have any, except our primary and see how it goes. Maybe we can work this out..

EDIT: My occurs when its idle and trying to sleep (and stops it from sleeping though).

I have the same exact same issue. Curious to hear what you figure out.

ASUS Z87-Pro
i7-4770K
Clover 3949

Hey, I have the same issue too, is there any solution today ?

( sorry for my bad American guys, I'm French )

Maybe your hard drive/SSD are going to sleep on it's own after some inactivity. So when OSX tries to access it, it takes a while for the HD to go wake up again, and OSX had to wait a few seconds.

i disable the sleep of my ssd by the command " sudo pmset -a disksleep 0 " but still the same issue

Here is my IOREG File. but I can't understand why this file can help me :|

Using wrong System definition. Use iMac 14,2. You haven't implemented Native Powermanagement. Cant expect much.
