[SOLVED] Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080/1070

In a last ditch plea I posted this https://forums.geforce.com/default/...s-a-375-15-10-xxxxx-mac-driver-with-10-12-2-/ on Nvidia.com. This time I placed it under the "Apple GPU" category for drivers vs. the "GTX 1080" category the last big one was under. I focused on driver number in the title and NOT specific GPU models. I encourage you all to visit and leave a reply. Not that I think in asking for support for a specific gen of GPU is wrong, I just think that by using driver numbers instead of hardware descriptors, Nvidia is more apt to respond based off the fact they aren't publicly admitting to supporting unofficial Mac hardware.

I hope this works- I just emailed NVIDIA PR: :geek::ugeek::mrgreen:

Big fan of NVIDIA GeForce cards- I run a site called tonymacx86.com which specializes in helping people build computers and install macOS on generic PC hardware. I was hoping to get in contact with someone at NVIDIA regarding macOS Web Drivers.

There is huge pent up demand in our community for your new lineup of cards, the Pascal GeForce GTX 1070 and 1080. Unfortunately there is no Pascal driver included in your Web Driver package, so we are forced to recommend the older 9xx series to new builders. We think if you were to add Pascal support it would help NVIDIA’s manufacturing partners to sell a lot of graphics cards.

If you have any information, or if you can forward this email to the proper channel I’d be very appreciative.

Sincerely,

-tonymacx86

Can you please also ask them to fix their nvidia web drivers OpenGL I can't run anything other then OpenGL 2.1 on my nivida geforce gtx 980 which in Linux has no trouble running the latest version of OpenGL something like 4.5 or more, I used to be able to run OpenGL 4.1 or 4 at one point a couple of years back or more but now it won't let me run anything more then OpenGL 2.1...p.s. if they solved this problem I would most likely update to the 1080 ti when it comes out...I think it's such a shame the only games that run well now are well really 1 that I play which is starcraft 2 because it was rewritten in metal but any steam game runs terrible so terrible it's not worth playing. pps I am running the latest version of macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and I am pretty sure the professional community are really ticked off about open gl not working properly as well.

Could you please also ask Logitech to fix their Mouse Drivers for MacOS 10.12.1 because my mouse does not scroll like it used to in El Capitan now I have to really scroll quite a bit with the scroll wheel in certain things like launchpad and if I want to change weapons in Team Fortress 2 in steam, I have a Logitech G700S mouse and I downloaded the driver package called Logitech Gaming Software, and without it, it is the same, it won't recognise my mouses receiver as being plugged therefore it fails to work completely.

No disrespect against Tony but I don't think that an email from him will solve your issue.

I'm just praying they will listen to Tony, it's the only way we can be heard I believe, I thought about contacting Nvidia myself and Logitech but now that Tony is on to it I reckon Tony has a much better chance then I do.

I really need the Pascal Titan X for my everyday work, so I finally ordered another 512GB SSD for Linux -it was on a HDD partition-, which will be my primary OS from now on. I'll come back to the Mac in the future if Apple manages to find a solid strategy for the professional side of the Mac, but until then I have a lot of work to do, with huge triangle meshes, huge textures, and with GPGPU programming. Sorry folks, but I cannot go back to Maxwell.

I gave up my hopes on 1080 approximately on page #105 of this thread lol and I purchased a 980ti. Best decision ever! This card was the only thing that didn't give me a single problem with my hack build. I play games on it and edit and not a single bump yet!

Too bad it doesn't support hardware HEVC decoding, else I might make the switch too.

Hints to new iMacs and Mac Pros have been found in 10.12.2 code. Let's hope that at least the Mac Pro uses a Pascal GPU, and we'll finally get web drivers too

Source?

PS. My first post ever on this forum. But really wanted to get the source of this information.

Hopefully the lack of response from Nvidia is due to a NDA with Apple or something of the sort.
