I recently built a similar system with a 6700K, GTX 970 and ga-Z170X(-UD3) motherboard. Quite easy to install and get everything to work.

Your parts are compatible.

I currently can't test since I had to RMA my graphics card (it was overheating so I had to send it back to ASUS for a replacement.

It really depends on what you use to edit with. Final Cut Pro or premiere pro have very different rendering times with the same graphics card due to optimisations. You should try to find information on which cards (also check out AMD cards) work best with your preferred editing software. Then check what your best choice is and check if it is compatible with a hackintosh system.

@bartpostma, did you advice issue on playing 4k videos with quicktime or vlc? I mean, in my case, when play 2k/4k video with quicktime, this is not smooth and one process cpu usage go to over 180%.
