[Guide] Dell XPS 13 9350 macOS 10.12.1

Status
Not open for further replies.
I'm using mine as a daily driver (since yesterday!)
Since the Skylake Graphics Glitch is fixed, the only issues left for me are:

  • Brightness Hotkeys
  • Multitouch TouchPad with Gestures

For now I'm using VoodoPS2Controller.kext and it's been fine. USB-C might be an issue as well, but I don't have any devices to test that.

Has anyone looked into the status of ASPM for the NVMe SSD?

EDIT: That being said MAKE SURE you backup your stuff. The Laptop was on battery, after resuming from sleeping (I opened the lid, display turned on and I logged in) and did stuff for a couple minutes. My system was running perfectly fine and then randomly crashed for the first time. Now fsck reports an invalid record count and I have to reinstall macOS.

I'm a total noob, question, how did you fix the graphics glitches?

I've added all changes from this post:
  • Updated Wireless Patches for 10.12.1
  • 10.12.1 Fixes Volume Hotkeys
  • Removed [sys] Fix PNOT/PPNT Patch (Post)
  • Recreate NVMe Patch KEXT (Post)
  • Re-Added InjectKexts Detect Mode (Post)
  • More Detailed Notes
Plus:
  • Updated To Clover_v2.3k_r3911
  • MacBook9,1 SMBIOS
  • Added HWPEnable
  • Removed SSDT PM Patch
  • Disabled Mouse In Clover
  • Skylake Menu Bar Glitch Fix
Again, these changes are pending testing (which I will perform tomorrow), I will upload once I am happy with them!
I'm aiming for a flawless build with NO issues at all, currently it seems the Touchpad, Brightness Hotkeys (I want it working as it would on a MacBook, no custom hotkeys) and USB-C Port may have issues.
Stability, Power Management & Sleep need to pass the test of time (when I make my laptop a daily driver!)

The updated Clover directory is attached, it is UNTESTED. Updated Guide (first post) is also attached.

I am able to boot my 9350 via usb. I am unable to see my SSD at all, it's a PM951 256gb. What am I missing?

Cool, maxexcloo, I wondered if IONVMeFamilyBorg.kext is used if we already have it installed ? Is it the NVME drivers only needed for installation?

The Wireless Patches can fix Dell wireless 1820a that comes with 9350?

Thanks

:) Its kinda weird that I had that situation and it resolves by itself, maybe check :
- Patch own DSDT, SSDT
- Use NVME kext and patch in the config.plist (I use clover from TheAlpa before)
- @first install screen, before selecting (appears only flash drive), open the disk utility, mine suddenly appears

Hope it will help (been 2 days with this thing)

Use my Clover directory, I just booted it with no modifications and it detected my SSD fine.

The NVMe Clover patches are used only for installation and the KEXT only works post install (at least in my case on 10.12.1).
The wireless patches are for the DW1560, the DW1820 is not supported.

@maxexcloo, do you have tips if after changing kexts or config.plist, the mac wont boot, what should we do? Can the safe mode enough to fix, or must use installer and terminal to fix it from there?

Yes, I thought so too but in my case, I forgot to put NVME kext in the SSD, and it turns out working just fine, is there any consequences later ?

And maxexcloo, how do you get your audio work? Are we must run audio_cloverALC-120.command.zip ? Or it will be handled just with config.plist and the kext?
