The Build
  • Why you decided to build this system? I just wanted to try out Apples OS especially Sierra and i would also like to use final cut pro and garage band for other task's.
  • What were the driving applications that dictated your choice in system components? I had this pc for about a month and I thought I'd give it a go.

I cannot seem to link everything I used - it was a various mix of posts here and youtube. Some that solved the issue with X99 motherboard, and, then, I had to follow some posts about Broadwell E and Skylake builds. The graphics was a issue in itself; my web drivers were giving me some trouble, but I managed to get that to work by changing the SMBIOS to Mac Pro (mid 2010) 5,1 after installing various fixes. I mainly wanted to share my build cause I know the X99 builds and Broadwell E builds aren't the "norm", but can be done!

Everything is working as it should. The only boot flags I have, which go automatically for me, are the web driver fix. (I don't know if that enables anything but it works all the time.) And the flag needed to boot with x99 boards. My audio works, my CPU management works , my 4.4 GHz overclock works.

What doesn't work is iMessage and FaceTime, which i hope to fix very soon! And X.M.P. isn't working; I can't get the RAM to run at 3k speeds.

Safari and Chrome were crashing but after one reboot they have seemed to fix themselves (no crashed since).

UEFI BIOS Settings
1. To access UEFI Setup, press and hold Delete on a USB Keyboard while the system is booting up
2. Set to Optimized Defaults.
3. Set X.M.P. Memory Profile to NONE
4. Save and exit.

If anyone needs any help I can check my history, and I can hopefully send you in the right direction. Here are some quick links that I used to help me. I really don't know much about this stuff but, once I start, I cant stop until it works!

Web driver fix (someone's post told me to change the SMBIOS),

This site helped me majorly with the x99 issues.

Amazing work! I'm wrestling with a pretty similar build but my cpu is a 6900k - would you consider making a guide for this build?

Oh geez lol i would not know where to even start , i just basically followed bits and pieces of skylake hackintoshes/broadwell e and gtx 980 posts and at the end of it all it seemed to work.

I first got it to boot, then it automatically used default drivers for graphics since i dont have integrated intel graphics so i did not worry about my gpu then after i got it working i followed some posts about the ethernet and sound then i got my gtx 980 to work, it fixed the sound to go through the hdmi, i just did it in steps instead of all at once.

No problem, I too am working through a mix of every x99 guide I can find, I don't suppose you remember having a 'pci configuration end' reboot loop do you? Currently stuck there and I cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong!

no i did not , maybe try moving your gpu to another pci-e slot the first one. i did run into a error that said error allocating 0x1190c. try booting with nvda drv=1 or nv disable=1 or GraphicsEnabler=Yes. in the actual settings and not by pressing space bar while over the boot drive in the clover menu. This is just the start lol it took a whole day of work to dig around just to get the gpu running! keep me posted or if you need anything els reply back!

copy and paste the folder and completely replace your folder and then see what happens, ( make sure to save a copy of yours before you replace with mine.)

Agreed. Having a hell of a time here with my same processor and EVGA x99 micro 2 motherboard. Getting stuck at PCI configuration at boot.
