Hi,

I have a dell vostro which has some more work to do, but hit a wall unfortunately with the sound card. (sleep, usb, webcam, power management are working, touchpad with VoodooPS2 by Rehabman)

I tried many different solutions and kexts but none of them worked.
I tried Layout ID 3 and 12, tried Miro's HDA patcher (several versions of it)
Calculated the Codec verbs, and got lost in the path map a bit...

Apparently a lot of people managed to get this card working, so any clues or help would be really appreciated.
I've attached the IOReg,Codec dump, patched DSDT and Config.plist file

Use only the layout-id that is used by the patched AppleHDA you're using.
It is covered in the ACPI patching guide linked from the FAQ: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/faq-read-first-laptop-frequent-questions.164990/

You will need to search for patched AppleHDA for your codec.

Read the FAQ.

Thank you for the quick response! :)
I haven't described everything (correctly)... I'm still on El capitan 10.11.6 as the Sierra does not recognise the USB Webcam for some reason, and for now I want to focus on the sound card... (and migrate to Sierra later when I've ironed out all the kinks
So if I leave the layout12.xml untouched, then that should be ok with the calculated verb commands?

Off-topic. You are posting in the 10.12 forum.

sorry for that, but I can't seem to find the option to move the hread to El CApitan Laptop support...
Could you please move it over to EC-Laptop Support and let me know if you know the answer. thanks :)

I patched AppleHDA according to your specific codec info, you should test and reply back.
I included a fully patched AppleHDA.kext as well as a so-called 'dummyHDA' kext (AppleHDA_CX20590.kext). If you choose to go with the dummyHDA kext, you should have vanilla/untouched AppleHDA.kext in /S/L/E as well as the binary patch to be applied to 'AppleHDA' in your config.plist, I attached the code you should paste to it... Also don't forget to apply the layout-id 3 to your DSDT as well as the IRQ patch.

Please test and reply back.
