Hey guys!

This is not a guide YET! If I manage to get things running properly I will drop the "-to-be" from the title ;)

I'll be attempting to migrate to Sierra this weekend.
I'll be trying the Direct Update method first and if I do succeed I might set up another installation just to see how it goes when you do a clean install but otherwise will stick to the updated version. And if I do not succeed well... I'll just go down the old road of backing up files manually and formatting the drive and just setting things up a-new.

Wish me luck - Sierra is downloading :)

Status reports in the next post :)

First thing I have noticed so far is there is one different argument in the config.plist after I updated Clover:
Code:
<key>KernelAndKextPatches</key>
   <dict>
       <key>AsusAICPUPM</key>
<true/> - That used to be FALSE.
I don't know if it will affect the update process - I guess we'll see soon enough :)

STATUS Update:

OK. So the update went through. My Logitech Unifying software is out the door and does not wish to return.

Sound is gone.
Graphics Acceleration is present.
I have a Siri app in the Dock - don't know what to do with it without sound.
The system seems to have switched to sRGB-IEC61966-2.1 without asking to do so. My color profiles are gone. Not a huge deal but still don't quite like it.

....
They didn't even bother to change the wallpaper :(

--------------------------------------------------
Followed this guide here and Audio is back! Thanks, @toleda !!! You're the man - once again!

The config files for Karabiner have gone without leaving their new address. This is a hassle. In fact the app complains about being unable to connect with it's kernel extension. Might have to re-install and re-configure all over.

NTFS for Mac OS X is gone. Won't auto-mount drives, won't open it's preference pane. Looking into it...

--------------------------------------------------

I have a USB3.1 BUS in the system profiler.... that's new!

--------------------------------------------------

NTFS came back after a reboot. That's nice.
Unifying software is also back after reboot. Also nice.
Siri is now working once I got audio back.
Karabiner still doesn't work. I'm looking into it. Karabiner seems to have broken after the upgrade. Key mapping and many different things that I don't understand have changed in Sierra. The developers are working on resolving this and it looks like a complete re-write of the software from scratch. Fingers crossed they don't drop the project.
HWMonitor seems to be working properly. It doesn't read my FAN speeds, but it didn't read them before - nothing to do with the OS version I suppose.
CPU Speedstep is working properly. It seems to be TurboBoosting properly as well.

-------------------------------------------------

I actually hadn't noticed this up until now but:
USB3.0 does not work AT ALL. No devices are recognized when plugged in it and it would seem we will need a fix for that. Will look into it when I have some free time. Probably this weekend. In the mean time -

USB3.1 is recognized (and initialized?) properly, so plugging a USB Flash drive auto-mounts and works properly, etc. Copying speeds are pretty much what you would expect from a USB3.0 flash drive. I get writing speeds of up to 60 MB/sec and Read speeds up to 135 MB/sec. I don't currently own any USB3.1 devices to test if it performs as it should.

Please note: This refers to the USB 3.1 type A port - a.k.a. the red USB on the back of the MoBo that you've been wondering about since you bought it ;)

What clover version did you end up using?

What clover version did you end up using?

Hey, kaass!

I followed The Direct Update Guide so I downloaded the latest Clover available from The Sourceforge Link that the Guide provided. Updated and moved all my kexts
from /EFI/CLOVER/Kexts/10.11
to /EFI/CLOVER/Kexts/Other

And then took a quick look at the config.plist to make sure everything was still intact. As I mentioned in my previous posts there was only one difference -
<key>AsusAICPUPM</key>
<true/> - That used to be FALSE.

The other change I noticed is the visual theme for Clover was reset to it's default. Not a big deal, really.

-------------------------------------------

On a second look the Clover update seems to have uninstalled the Tonymacx86 theme. Probably that's why it has reverted back to the "embedded" theme.

Ok, awesome. I wanted to check because I've been reading that some people are having issues with certain of the newer versions of clover.

Thanks! I'll be doing my upgrade shortly. Hopefully by then they'll have Seil (Karabiner) working again :)

So I tried it out with clover 3763, moved all my kexts over to Other folder and added the fakesmc one also.
Booting with without caches, I get the loading bar that the cannot find boot icon (circle with bar across).
If I boot with caches (regardless of inject kexts or not) I get text overlay on the apple logo before loading with some sort of panic.

Did you run into any of these problems?

I was able to boot back into El Cap no problem after multiple tries.

I have the same motherboard. I install new installation , working well , but intel grafic is only 8 mb. voice only in headphone
I used how to install GM sierra by clover.

Have you guys been able to get USB3 speeds working?

If so, how?

I am going through some testing.

The upgrade went buttery smooth for me - no issues whatsoever. However I think I should point out that I had and still have my SSDTs in the Patched folder and all of my kexts - including Verde.kext for graphics. Will test USB speeds when I get home.
