[Guide] Lenovo G50-70 and Z50-70 Bios whitelist removal

Hello friends,

I've noticed that the Pre-req for the method is a Lenovo Z50-70 with 9BCN26WW.

However, I own a Lenovo Z40-70, but my laptop can back flash to the same firmware as above.

Would it be safe to continue? I don't want to risk any bricks or any sticky situation of the sort.

Are you saying you have a newer BIOS version? You can always try with the newer BIOS version first. It just has to be backed up and patched correctly.

I've had a newer BIOS version before, yes.

I already back-flashed to the version specified in the OP. But, I don't know if my computer model will have any conflicts.

For best results, update to v91 BIOS, make a BIOS dump/backup, request a bios unlock mod from bios-mods.com, when you get it, downgrade to v26 and flash the modified v91 BIOS image. This applies to Z50-70 and Z40-70 owners.

Okay. I managed to create the SLIC file and renamed it to bios.bin....

Okay. Do you know the exact thread to request? Or do I just make a thread over there requesting it?

Reply to an existing thread or just open a new one, doesn't matter.

Note that you will have to use the 'sleep bug' procedure to patch the bios. When you get the backup file and the tools, put your computer to sleep mode, wake it up, run cmd as admin, go to the tools/bios directory and run this command:
Code:
fptw64 -f bios.bin -bios
or if you're using 32-bit Windows:
Code:
fptw -f bios.bin -bios

Proceed at your own risk and note this can brick your laptop if you do it wrong.
Good luck.

Hey guys

Just removed the whitelist and installed my brand new Broadcom card, great card WIFI wise, but Bluetooth is not working...

Although I notice some performance issues in the V.26 of the BIOS, and I wanted to flash the latest version without loosing the whitelist...

Is the the same way to patch the lasted version? same bytes to edit and all?

Regards

Can you please check the offsets that need to be replaced in the v91 BIOS?
I must confess I am still on v26. I'll have a look at v91 as so soon as I can (not so soon).
Btw some newer versions than v26 had the very same offsets.

Edit: I just had a look at lenovo site and wasn't able to find v91, the last version they provide is v32 (9ACNxxWW), are you referring to 91CNxxWW bios? If yes please provide me a dump.

Here is the v91 BIOS I'm using on my Z50-70:

I am sorry but I can't provide a BIOS dump now, I will post it here as soon as I can.

Hi
I stuck in the first step with Universal Bios BackUp ToolKit 2.0 -
I run the recommended BIOS 9bcn26ww and changed bios to optimal defaults. I disabled WIFI in Bios because I already plugged in my new WIFI card.
In Windows 8 I am logged in as Administrator. The first strange thing is, that Win8 64Bit doesn't show the .exe in my BiosBackUp ToolKit 2.0 Folder. Win8 says the folder is empty while its not. In short - the only way to see the .exe is to navigate via network to the .exe file stored on my Mac. Then I can right click it, select "Run as Administrator" - The Applikation opens with an error, that I need to run it as Administrator. How wired is that!!! I have the Windows open then, but can´t do a backup ... I tried also to open it via USB Stick. But the same. The file is hidden.
An idea?
