macOS Sierra Does NOT Boot with MacPro3,1 MacPro4,1 System Definitions

Hey guys, I'm using iMac 14,2 already, so no biggie for me with this.
1 question though.
Do I just upgrade, like on a normal mac?
Or should I download, unibeast USB, put Multibeast and clover configurator there, and install as fresh 10.12?

I've got a working dual boot, with 10.11.6 and W10 on a single SSD, so I wouldn't wanna lose that.
Although, my W10 is kind of ready for a reinstall, maybe. IDK really. I just like to keep the OS fresh and fast.

You may do either, the choice is yours but don't forget to back up first.

If you decide on an in-place upgrade "like on a normal mac" then make sure that you have FakeSMC.kext in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other.

Also ensure that you use the latest Clover.

Ok, so i just changed my system profile as described by SquishyTia.

I'm wondering if this statement: Your "About this Mac" will show MacPro3,1 as it goes by serial number (as does the App Store for purposes of authentication for downloads)

Will not allow me to download Sierra from the app store, since like described the app store still refers to MP 3.1?

thx

It should. The app store only uses your serial number to verify that the computer you're accessing the account from is authorized to purchase/view/use content. The OS download is dependent upon system definition, not serial number.

In my opinion the methodology is flawed.
The Serial number and Main Logic Board number also identify the type of computer and should match the System Definition.
Using a MacPro3,1 serial number and MLB number with an iMac14,1 system definition is confusing.

This method is there for those that want the fastest way to change over to the proper system definition without dealing with the iMessage headaches. What you and Stork define as a "simple" procedure can be very confusing to those not very intimate with Clover. If you don't have an MLB you will have to deal with the iMessage stuff anyway, but if you have a working one, there is no reason to change it unless you just want extra hassle. If you're starting fresh, the changeover procedure won't matter anyway as you'll be making a fresh machine essentially.

Just for completeness, what does iMac14,2 show in About This Mac?

I'm on 10.10.5 with a clover install running 5.1 on an X99 board with a 5960x. Any reason I need to switch from 5.1 and I'm curious if anyone knows of any other issues I might face in an upgrade with the X99 and 5960x combo.
