Hello guys
I have installed the correct Nvidia web driver for my OSX El Capitan install.
The boot goes just fine, but the computer reboots just before reaching the log-in screen.
It is evident that this is a graphis issue, because i can boot successfully with nv_disable=1.
I have tried all the following:
  • System definitions Mac Pro 3,1 and iMac 14,2
  • nv_driver=1 is set in my config.plist
  • ncpi=0xx.....

The rest of the kernel flags are as follows

Code:
<key>Arguments</key>
        <string>-v dart=0 nvda_drv=1 kext-dev-mode=1 rootless=0</string>

Really appreciate all the help!

Same issue here, have tried everything in the boot args and different mac systems/profiles and it still reboots right before login when using web drivers.

GFX: MSI GEFORCE GTX 980TI GAMING 6G
BOARD: ASUS Z9PA-D8
CPU: 2 x E5-2670v1
OS: 10.11.6 (have tried all compatible web drivers)

Does anyone have El Capitan + 980(TI) running?

Make sure you do not have Inject/Nvidia set to True. There are LOTS of people using Maxwell GPUs successfully in El Capitan.

Thank you for the reply. I have tried True / False in every combination of the common bootflags. Here is the one I'm using now, since nvda_drv=1 gives med instant reboot right before login screen:

-v -f npci=0x2000 kext-dev-mode=1 PCIRootUID=1 nv_disable=1 dart=0 InjectNvidia=False GraphicsEnabler=No

I have to use the npci and dart options with the "old" dual cpu 2011 board I'm using, but other than that not much changes the boot sequence - except when loading nvidia web drivers.

I will try with EVGA 980TI to see if it helps. But I'm not very hopefull ;)

Anything else I could have missed?

Out of what you have, here are the ones that actually do something:
-v
-f
npci=0x2000
PCIRootUID=1
nv_disable=1
dart=0

The following are not valid with Clover:
InjectNvidia=False
GraphicsEnabler=No

The following don't do anything anymore:
kext-dev-mode=1

Inject/NVidia is not set to true or false using a boot flag in Clover. It is in the config.plist and you can toggle it using the Options at the Clover boot menu.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, I will remove the unusable args. But as said I have tried every combination from only -v all the way to everything I could find in every combination (yes that's a lot of reboots)... It it still reboots just before login screen. I have tried with a EVGA 980TI to see if it was the MSI card that was the issue, but still the same.

So a bit out of luck, I think it's the board/chipset since it's the only thing separating my setup from a lot of build guides that got 980 cards up and running. So for now it's back to centos for that machine.

Cheers,
