I have a Skylake system with an HD 530 and monitor hooked up to DVI. The iGPU worked in El Capitan with the ig-platform-id and Inject Intel, no glitches or artifacts.

I am now running the HD 530 in macOS Sierra GM release (16A319). The great news is that now the GPU is automatically detected in the OS and accelerated WITHOUT injection or ig-platform-id (detected as a Intel HD Graphics SKL CRB 1536 mB).

Unfortunately it has a artifact/glitch in the upper left hand of the screen. Appears to be inverted pixels and it flickers in response to screen redraws (i.e. it flickers with every keyboard type or mouse movement). Since this no longer seems to be a beta issue and will likely be an issue for the final release on 20th I wanted to work on a solution for all of us out there.

Is anyone out there an expert on framebuffers and can help point me in the right troubleshooting direction? Could this have something to do with the EDID?

Thanks in advance.

I certainly hope some experts start chiming in here to help resolve this issue. I'm experiencing the same issue here with the GM and had to revert back to El Capitan because of it. Note: I used the same driver that was part of Multibeast 8.2.3 for the HD530 which works fine in El Capitan, but displays the artifacts that you mention in the Sierra GM.

I can't install Sierra in intel 530.. How is the procedure?
I'm currently with El Capitan installed in an i3 pc 6100. is there a specific guide?
thanks in advance :)

I've seen the artifacts in El Capitan too in the upper left hand of the screen on my Skylake system when Internal Graphics Memory in the BIOS was set to 32M. Upping it to 64M solved the graphics glitch. This is thinking out loud as you've probably done this already. Currently downloading the GM to create an installer for testing with HD530.

Yes did change dvmt and didn't change issue. It's a trade off because now sleep works, which is a bigger deal for me.

Installed macOS Sierra GM(16A323) this morning and I'm greeted with the flickering artifacts in the top left. Your ability to sleep and wake the system maybe down a specific framebuffer not loading as you're not injecting an ig-platform-id. You can see this in IOReg under IGPU>AAPL,ig-platfrom-id. My system does not wake injecting an ig-platform-id.
There were severe artifacts in El Capitan beta with HD530 and it seems there are bugs in the macOS Sierra too.
Abilities to hot plug a second monitor at the desktop is not possible at the moment - the driver crashes and a hard reset is required, but switching the 2nd monitor after post allows me to use 2 monitors, and the 2nd as a different space(not mirrored).
looking at the HD530(19120000) framebuffer it is the same in macOS Sierra as it was in El Capitan, the 4 display patch and connector edits work as before.
I guess we just need Apple to fix the artifacts in an update or final release...

I've read this on another forum and hope it is not true. :(

Apple started working on 530 drivers for El Cap with the idea of releasing skylake macs with the 530... but for some reason they haven't. They most probably will go to kabylake straight away. So expect no fix for these problems, there really is little hope.

The drivers have already been better than this in El Capitan. There should be no reason for them not to work correctly and bare in mind that this is Public Beta GM. 3 releases already. The Skylake HD530 support is there and is working except for the glitches in the menu bar top left. Performance is good for the IGPU and I'm pretty sure that we should get it working correctly soon.
