I have Macs going back to the original 128k which still adorns my library in an exalted place. I have several not-worth-starting-up Macs like the wedge portable and luxo lamp iMac but I have working:
2006 MacPro Alpha Piked to El Capitan. Works great.
2008 MacBook Pro
2010 MacBook Pro
I would never build a portable Hackintosh because as a portable device I would want it to be totally continuity, etc. functional.
One more thing. This Hackintosh stuff is huge in places like Czechoslovakia, Poland, Russia, etc. I met an outsourcing company based in Czechoslovakia who have 100 Hackintoshes. Why? They build cheap boxes cause hardware is expensive. Linux has a lousey desktop experience. MacOS is a real OS and kinda-sorta-not really free, but less grief than torrenting Windows which is against their agreements with their US customers but MacOS is not on that document. The software is all legally purchased because that would break their promise of performance. It was an interesting conversation.
