64 bit SL on Asus P5B

Hi everyone! So I'm having trouble getting my SL hackintosh to work on 64 bit. I have used multibeast with success to have a stable, functioning 32 bit machine. Now, if I try installing the 64 bit kernel provided by multibeast with graphicsenabler = yes then the machine stops booting at the desktop background, ie no finder, no icons, nothing. If I load the 64 bit kernel with graphicsenabler =no then it boots up, but I get a 1024x768 screen res on both my screens, so no good. Any ideas? I should add I have a GeForce 7600 video card.
Before anyone asks, I need 64 bit because some of my audio plugins require it.

MultiBeast does not supply a 64 bit kernel. You can boot 32 bit mode with boot-arg arch=i386 or boot 64 bit mode with boot-arg arch=x86_64
IIRC, in 2010 sometime, 10.6.4 and later default installation was 64 bit and the 32 bit boot-arg was required if you had some apps with 32bit drivers that just would not work in 64 bit mode.
It is possible your GPU, which lost support in OS X 10.6.5 and later, does not work with anything but basic VESA driver in 64bit mode.

Is there a graphics card you would recommend for my build? It's SL on an Asus P5B with a xeon x5460, I have a PCIe 16x slot available.

An nVidia GEForce GT210 or 610 can be had for under USD$50 at Amazon.com and would do anything you are likely to throw at it.

A ATI 5450 1024MB is a good GPU and works in OS X. You can pick them up on Amazon or eBay next to nothing.
