for ALC298-SP4 try this:

It's a no go. I haven't been able to get a working version either. There's something weird going on with the SP4.

Answer me with a copy of the files below:
-config.plist
-DSDT / SSDT
-IOREG.ioreg

My bad, the HDAS to HDEF patch was disabled. Your kext is working on the SP4 so add it to the list. It's always the little details that get you! lol Thanks for your help.

This is good news,
if your SP4 has a ComboJack(External Mic+Headphones)
you could test?

Yep, it's working. Everything switches automatically with CodecCommander installed.

There is no special config for ALC298 in CodecCommander. Are you using an SSDT for customization? If so, please attach it and I'll add to CodecCommander repo.

No SSDT, that's just my ignorance of how CC works showing. I just removed it and it works fine without CC installed. Thanks for mentioning it.

Combo jack working? Both mic and headphones switching?

combo jack still works without it?

That's correct. Everything functions as expected and switches between inputs automatically. I tested by tapping on the internal mic and external mic just to make sure it wasn't picking up ambient noise somehow and it was very clear that it's working.

The two codecs in this thread are starting to pop up in skylake notebooks so hopefully they will work for other machines.
