I spoke too soon! Everything was working perfect, fast as ever and then it looks like I got a kernel panic. The boot halted at system uptime. Interesting thing was i cloned the my ssd to hdd and it boots up. Any ideas?

try adding test2.efi to clover. once you do that if it still doesn't boot, try changing OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi to OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi or vice versa.

Hi guys,

To be totally honest I have no clue what I am doing or why I have to do it but miraculously I got Yosemite to work perfectly fine without ever having an issue.

This time around I wanted to install El Capitan 10.11.4 on a second drive and All works fine so far except I can't get the Audio to work and the USB ports are a bit off...

I am on a x99-ud4, i7 5280k, R9-280X, Bios F21a....

USB issue isn't too bad just two USB 3 ports are not working at all and only 1 port is recognized as USB 3...

But the Audio not working is killing me... I have tried everything but no luck. I am also now using a Sabrent USB Audio adapter which works but for some reason the system keeps dropping the connection to the adapter and only comes back after a minute or so...

And under Audio in System Information it says Intel High Definition Audio

Audio ID: 1

Does anyone got their onboard Audio working correctly? Any chance to work me through or lead me into the right direction to have it fixed?

Thank you!

Bonny

not sure try updating bios and reinstalling because you should have no problems with usb audio. I also have no problems with usb. make sure you get all files from my guide thanks.

Hey Malki,

Thanks for your reply. I tested the usb sound on a macpro and wasn't recognized either so I have ordered a new one. Fingers crossed.

I have tried Toleda's guides 2. X99/Intel High Definition Audio... He wrote
  • Note: cloverALC removes the x99 patch, reinstall x99 patch

Not sure what "reinstall x99 patch" means... How do I reinstall it??

After changing the config.plist I can't boot into El Capitan anymore. Any ideas?

Thank you!

I changed SMBIOS from 6,1 to 4,1 and hold and behold I have sound! :)

Is there any disadvantage or advantage having this changed to 4,1?

Also I had it overclocked to 4.3 and it was working fine until this morning and I would always get boot failures until I reset it to 3.3... Any ideas why that is?

Thank you

i don't think it matters about what the smbios are. I don't think that even made a difference with sound. I'm pretty sure its just a cosemetic thing.

it may have been something else you did to get sound working. not sure why you were getting boot failures. Sometimes if your messing around a lot with clover it will have a boot failure and lose overclock. If your just starting your computer and shutting down normally you shoulldn't have any problems with overclock.

Hey, I have everything done like in the post.
But if I try to install from USB I get this Screen.

20160412_161254.jpg and than like this 20160412_161274.jpg

Asus X99a
Intel 5820k
Gigabyte 970 G1 Gaming

Someone an Idea what can be wrong?

Thanks for an awesome guide in advance! I used it amongst 10 other guides to get my build up. I'm using a 5820k and an asrock x99m usb 3.1 mobo, but I'm only getting around 22250 on geekbench. Wonder if I'm missing a crucial setting or something any suggestions? Power management and speed step is working overclocked to 4.5. Thanks for your help!

A stock 5930k scores around 23000 at stock settings. The 5820k should be 'bout the same. At 4.5 they score around 26000. PM doesn't work at all on X99 platforms regardless of what's been posted. You can use Clovers FakeCPUID and Pikes ssdtPRGen script to get a few steps but at the cost of the CPU no longer running at max speed under load... None of this is going to be fixed until Apple supports X99, hopefully with Broadwell-E.
