OS X 10.11.4 Update

Status
Not open for further replies.
I have done a clean install of 10.11.4 on my Dell Latitude E6420 with a Sandy Bridge i5 2520M CPU. I have everything working except that it will only boot with the cpus=1 argument. While it works it is not at all ideal. When I boot without that argument I get the attached kernel panic. I know of other people with the same laptop that are getting the same panic. Any ideas?

Laptop questions should be posted to the appropriate laptop forum.

No issue using the combo update on my listed i7 machine.

Created an image with Clonezilla and blasted it onto the listed i5 machine with GraphicsEnabler=Yes on boot/multibeast.

Both nice and happy.

Thanks for all the work on this. Amazing.

EDIT: I got it working by deleting /Library/Extensions/AppleHDA892.kext which had AppleHDALoader.kext in it as a plugin. The AppleHDALoader.kext Info.plist looked similar to the AppleHDA.kext Info.plist, but had the two new IOPCIDevice and IOACPIPlatformDevice keys missing. After removing the AppleHDA892.kext, rebooting, and running the audio_cloverACL-110 command, and one more reboot, audio is working again! Thanks for the help (in making me read the darn logs).

I had the same problem with missing symbols, and Google led me right to you. You saved me a lot of trouble I think! Thanks so much!

Just want to share my experience.

After a first update via appstore the system doesn't boot(crossed circle). Restore via recovery partiton and tm-backup.

Then I first installed the latest clover (v2.3k_r3389) and replace then OsxAptioFixDrv with OsxAptioFix2Drv
using the Clover Configurator.

After that, I downloaded the Combo Update and installed it, following the instructions.

Everything seems to work now, including audio and trim.

Thanks to all here sharing their informations.
Sorry for my not so good english!!!

Thanks!!!

How did you replace OsxAptioFixDrv with OsxAptioFix2Drv
using the Clover Configurator ? thanks

The easiest way is to connect the SSD or HDD to another hack or mac then run Clover Installer onto the drive.

A really good practice is to clone your drive before the update. Since this requires a separate dedicated HDD, you can also install Clover on the clone drive. You can simply copy the entire EFI folder from your working drive to the Clone EFI partition. This gives you a 100% identical copy so you can boot into your "old" system no matter what. If your update goes south, then just change your boot drive choice in BIOS to boot from the clone.

This is what happened to me this go around. My original boot drive did not use Fix2 driver and would not boot. I changed the boot drive to my clone, then logged into my backup. From there I just installed the Fix2 driver to my original drive and then changed the boot drive selection back to my original drive.

Mods may want to add this step in their suggested update process.

Just here to report:
Updated via the app store, everything went smoothly. Everything seems to be working.

My Build:
GA-Z97x-SLI
i7 4790 4.0 GHz
ASUS STRIX GTX980

Steps:
1: Updated multibeast
2: downloaded web drivers
3: installed 11.4 and reboot with nv_disable=1
4: installed new web drivers
5: rebooted again.
