OS X 10.11.4 Update

Had a scary experience when updating via the App Store; I'm now downloading the combo update.

The App Store update took a long time to download, and longer to install. Then the trouble started: endless "spin-blink" cursor on a black screen, until the screen blank kicked in. I saw the disk light was still blinking, so I left it alone for a while (at least 2 hours). After that, I assumed it was stuck, so I hit the reset button.

Clover loaded normally, got the white-on-black Apple logo with the progress bar, then...spin blink. Spin blink, spin blink, spin blink...

Tried to boot the Recovery HD, which didn't work.

Tried my EC installer stick, ran Disk Utility, disk checked out OK. Err...where's "Restore from Time Machine"? When I quit, I got the Startup Disk prefpane, which said that my main HD was now running 10.11.4. Rebooted. Same result as above.

Finally threw in the towel and reinstalled 10.11.3, then re-ran MultiBeast 8.1. Note to self: do not select "Optional 3 Port Audio". It doesn't work. Remount EFI, edit config.plist, reboot. Audio's OK now.

Oh, and one other thing: I had updated Clover to build 3354 before this mess started. Will stick with 3320 for the second try...also disconnect extra USB stuff, including the Bluetooth dongle. And don't be running other apps "while you wait"...

Edit: After running the combo update, I can only boot in Safe Mode, which kills the audio and slows graphics to a crawl. Otherwise, spin blink, spin blink, spin blink... :banghead: Tried manually removing the nVidia web drivers, which didn't help. CUDA seems unaffected.

I am pleased to report the following:

  • OS X 10.11.4 works without APIC fix.
  • Intel HD 530 works without graphical artifacts.
  • Intel HD 530 works when booting in normal mode instead of safe mode.

Is anyone running a legacy Clover install on a Z68 board? My machine works very well (sleep and iTunes DRM aside) and I'm using neither OsxAptioFixDrvnor OsxAptioFix2Drv on my build. I'd love to have confirmation from someone else that the update will continue to work without either of these installed.

As for those having trouble with sound after the update - have you opened up the Sound pref panel and checked to make sure that your default device has persisted across the upgrade? On a few occasions, after OS upgrades, the pref pane has lost the device and I've had to reset it in order to restore sound. Sounds too easy, but I thought it worth mentioning just in case.

Thanks!

This spin - blink thing sounds very reminiscent of issues I've experienced when trying to upgrade a machine without the most recent, up-to-date Nvidia drivers.

Hi
Now the nvidia 960 its working with hardware accel, but the nvidia control panel says that is using the default driver, and in verbose mode says Web driver loaded, strange and confusing
Anyone updated running skylake?

Most probably NVRAM is not enabled. Thus, the bootloader if forcing the WEB driver to load with argument "nvda_drv=1" but NVRAM is not retaining the setting. Check if your NVRAM is ok.

Updated from Store, Everything worked fine, just need to install Nvidia Beta driver for 11.4 (and apply fix for profile iMac17,1 again) :)

Tested: remove APIC fix from config.plist because 11.4 supported Skylake !

Geekbench: 500 Score better

On my PC, the Intel HD 530 doesn't even output the video (via D-Sub). How you manage to get it works?
