Updated to 10.11.3 using the App Store and so far no issues. All was smooth.

Hello,

I am building my first Hackintosh and am a bit nervous! I am about to try and install 10.11.3 El capitan for first time on a NUC5i3MYHE - does anyone know if this will cause issues? Should I find an earlier version of El Capitan and upgrade through app store?

Also would it be best to downgrade the BIOS to 0030 rather than try with the 0034 BIOS that is on there?

Thanks

You can install 10.11.3 directly -- I just did that recently on my NUC5i3MYHE.

If I were you I would try it with the BIOS you've already got. Probably you'll see the problem that when you shut down it reboots instead, and I would expect the same fixes noted for the latest BIOS releases of the other models to fix that one too. But if there's some horrible issue with the latest BIOS, you can downgrade.

Frist of all thank you for the awesome guides. I've build several hacintoshes over the years from your gudes.

I've been running a NUC5i7RYH for about 3 months now and it has been stable, even across apple updates. Today I was doing a lot of data transfer to a network share and noticed the network speed was not what I expected for 1Gbps, upon investigation I found that my network settings were set to AUTO but was at 100Mbps. When I forced 1000Gbps I lost network connection. I know for certain that my switch is a Gigabit switch and I'm certain my cable is good.

Is anyone able to get Gig link and speeds from their NUC5i7RYH?

I never thought to check until you mentioned it, but now that I look in Network Utility I see that mine is also at 100Mpbs.

I'd try both the latest AppleIntelE1000e and the latest IntelMausiEthernet drivers from the Downloads/Kexts section (not at the same time) and see if one of them gives 1Gbps speed. I can't do it myself right this moment but I'll try later.

If anyone had trouble booting the installer check the BIOS settings; the Secure Boot page. Secure Boot Mode should say Standard and not Custom or something. If so, enable Secure Boot and check Force Secure Boot Defaults and Clear Secure Boot data and restart and disable Secure Boot. Almost everything works for me.

Can someone who had success with a 4k display at 60hz help? I have a Dell P2715q but I can only get it to run at 3840x2160 at 30hz. I have the NUC5i3MYHE version. I tried both mini-displayports on my NUC and neither works. Were there any additional steps needed? Thanks.

Thanks. I will look into it. The post seems to be more Haswell specific but maybe it also applies to Broadwell.

The IOKit patch is not graphics device specific.
