Hello,

I have a working Yosemite hackintosh running on my external hard drive, and windows 8 on my internal hard drive on my laptop. I want to buy a 2TB internal hard drive to include both OS's. Can i do that by dividing the 2TB HDD into 2 partitions, and then just cloning each OS to a partition ?

Processor : Intel Core i7 2670QM Sandy Bridge
Motherboard Model : 181B
BIOS : Insyde (version F.09)
Memory : 8GB RAM
GPU : Intel HD Graphics 3000, and nVidia GEFORE GT 630M 2GB

Thanking you in advance.

Cloning will get most of the work done. But you will need to deal with bootloader files.

You don't mention which bootloader you're using.

I'm using Chimera for the hackintosh

Will Chimera work ?

With Yosemite, yes, if Windows is installed Legacy mode. If installing UEFI, you need to use Clover.

So my Windows is installed Legacy Mode. So i can do :

1- Clone each OS to a partition formatted as follows : NTFS for Windows, Mac Journaled for Yosemite
2- Boot into the interal Mac partition using my external HDD
3- Install Chimera to the Internal HDD

and that's it ? I can now boot normally and choose which partition to choose ?

Because right now, when i boot from my external HDD, i see a Windows NTFS logo. When i click on it, it gives me an error where i can't boot into Windows and i need the disc to repair it, and i don't have the dvd

Getting the Windows boot files from your existing drive to a partition on a HDD with OS X is what is going to cause a problem. Chances are, in order to boot Windows right now you need to select the System Reserved partition to boot Windows unles you deliberately installed to prevent the creation of the SR partition. To check, open your disk management app in Windows and look at your hard drive structure - how many partitions and how are they labeled in the bottom part of the screen?

There are 2 partitions: One 350MB NTFS labeled "System Reserved" , and the C: partition

When i booted from my Mac drive, and clicked on the logo labeled "System Reserved", it booted into Windows. Just wanted you to know
