updates all went well no problems. :angel:

I updated on my Dell XPS 15 9530 and after the restart, my display basically froze in the progress bar. For me it basically meant that my internal display was not working, but it was working if I hooked it to my HDMI Television.

With Rehabman's help, I was able to find out where the problem was and basically I had to patch the IOKit by applying perl and codesign commands in the terminal from my sh script developed by the-darkvoid. Everything works now.

Updated with the combo updater. No problems at all.

Update via App Store without any problem or need any re install.

:thumbup: Clover build updated through the App Store without issue. Sound and TRIM still working.

Thank you for the guide, and thank you to everyone for the input! :)

:?: P.S. Any chance of putting up a poll widget to determine the success/fail rate and with what boot loaders? Might be instructive :) :geek:

GTX760 OOB ! :)

Notes:
- This update may break some of your El Capitan functions, like audio and the nVidia Web drivers. So, being an Early Adopter maybe fraught with problems. Make sure you backup first.:thumbup:

- If you're using nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti and the Titans 'Maxwell' graphics cards, you'll need to install the nVidia 10.11.3 Web driver(s) after the 10.11.3 update. You are advised to wait for nVidia's update or use the nVidia Yosemite Beta Web drivers. tonymacx86 will publish the link to the nVidia Web Driver as soon as it's announced, usually within 2-3 days. See threads in the Graphics forum section or here if you have one of these Maxwell graphics cards, such as: GTX 750, 750Ti, 960, 970, 980, 980 Ti or Titan graphics cards.

Here's the step by step way to update for those who aren't using the nVidia Maxwell graphics cards :
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Download the Software Update or Combo Update and run it to update to 10.11.3 - the updater will reboot upon completion;
:ch: Upon rebooting into El Capitan, you can:
:ch: (Optional) Update to the latest version of Clover,
:ch: Check to see if your audio is working (If you enabled Realtek onboard audio using MultiBeast v8 or toleda's CloverALC110 script, your audio should be OK),
:ch: (Optional) Check to see if your TRIM setting has survived through the update - if not, use the "trimforce" Terminal command[SUP]1[/SUP]; if you've used the "trimforce" command in 10.11.0, then it should "survive" the update, but check to make sure; and
:ch:Re-boot

Please post help requests in the El Capitan Desktop Support Forum section (not in this thread).

Tip: Don't use the iMac15,1 and Mac Pro 4,1/5.1/6.1 System Definitions. These SysDefs have been found to cause problems. For Haswell builds, toleda recommends iMac 14,1 for HD4600 and iMac14,2 for graphics cards; MacPro6,1 is only appropriate for X99 systems. Additionally, Clover is pretty "smart" about choosing a default System Definition for your system.

[SUP]1[/SUP] Use the new Terminal trimforce command in the following manner:
Code:
sudo trimforce enable

I have a couple questions.

1) Regarding the sysdefs recommended: I have a Haswell HD 4600 (4790k) and am using MacPro 3,1. I'm currently running 10.11.2. Is there any benefit to having a sysdef of iMac 14,2?

2) What is Trimforce? What does this do, I've never seen this before now. But I checked my system profile and it is not turned on for either my OSX SSD, or my Win 7 SSD drive. When I searched other threads on Trim, it sounds like it hosed some users systems. If I turn it on using the command, what will it do, and will it screw up my systems. Both OS's are on different disks.

A heads for people that some 280X cards are having problems with the 10.11.2 AND the 10.11.3 upgrade.

The symptoms are the Finder occasionally freezes and the Finder needs restarting, sometimes you can do this from the keyboard or by remote login in, e.g. Remote Desktop. Simply the act of using Remote Desktop is enough to unfreeze the desktop on the frozen machine.

10.11.3 is better than 10.11.2 but it still happens. No one has yet found a sequence to make it repeatable.

Graphics cards affected are

Sapphire 280X
Gigabyte 280X

There's a thread for this here

http://www.tonymacx86.com/el-capita...e-freezing-issues-10-11-2-z97x-ud5h-280x.html

so if you have similar issues head to the thread and report it there.
