I know that this might be not the right thread for this kind of question, but do you know if old geforce 6600 from my history storage will work with newest PCIe? I have Asus h170-pro motherboard.
I have not bought a new decent discrete GPU because I do not need that at the moment.

As to whether it will physically work, either it will fit the slot or it won't. However in terms of OS X support, the oldest I've heard of somebody using is an 8800.

That Geforce 6600 never had Intel drivers, this was PPC time. Geforce 7300 support has been dropped with the move to 64bit kernel, so the oldest supported Nvidia card is an 8800.

I'm facing a problem but I'm not sure what the reason is ..

My GPU seems to run correctly except ( Safari , AppStore , Mail ) Some kind of weird glitch that keeps me assuming there is something wrong with the drivers.



I'm Using GT610 since integrated skylake is not supported yet .


running on SAFE MODE seems to get the problem fixed in mail , App Store and safari ...

Can someone please help me?

That sounds identical to the behavior of the integrated graphics. Are you sure your monitor is plugged in to the video card and not the motherboard video outputs?

Yes I'm sure .. plus this is different .. I don't have the messed up colors. I did plug in correctly.

Chrome works fine and usable 100% .. but safari , Mail and App Store.. those have problems ..

i tried the new web drivers nothing improved.

Tried new Version 2.5 of CodecCommander, changed plist to 15C50 (10.11.2).
(Edit: The latter seems senseless.)

Audio works now even after sleep.

Now I updated to 10.11.3 without any issues – even NVidia beta driver works perfectly with GTX 960.

I have a question. I would like to upgrade one of my machines that is currently running the latest new update 10.1.1.3 to a new motherboard, during my Skylake build i ran into some problems and basically have enough parts to build another skylake machine. Can I use the SSD running now on the z77xud5-th mother board with the new z170xud5-th or do i have to start from scratch? if i copied the EFI contents including the plist from my working skylake build would it work since all the hardware is the same?

Thanks I got it fixed by changing the bios to only use 1 GPU output with auto selection (turned off multi display ). since the integrated GPU might have been effecting the card in a weird way to have the same similar symptoms as the integrated one (which you pointed out) although it was different and some browsers worked flawlessly. after doing that and editing the bios the new card has worked perfectly.

Normally that works, though you may need to install a couple drivers if the audio and/or network isn't quite the same. Also don't forget to double-check all the BIOS settings on the new machine.
