For those wondering, afaik rehabman95 used the Broadcom BCM94352Z.
It has 5Ghz ac and works with bluetooth handoff etc.

Here's how to change the cards:

If I am able to remove the whitelist I'll do that with mine.

Here is how you can patch iokit on elcapitan. Execute the correct files in the attachment of this post. They are each for a different version of el capitan. I extracted them from darkvoids script for the xps, nothing more.

Here is how you can run sh files:

thanks for the scripts - I just updated to 10.11.2 and everything appears to be working fine. last hurdle is the whitelist - I have my Lenovo Broadcom card ready to install...

Flashed my bios with the help of the bios mod folks, went smoothly. I just oderedthe card and will replace it as soon as it arrives.

This new development is very exciting, I had just gotten my new wifi board and was about to spring for the hardware programmer.

Can I just use the same xxx38WW BIOS they hacked for you? Seems like a hacked BIOS would be universal, but maybe it's specific to your machine. In that case I have to use some sort of sleep/wake trick to get the results they need? I find that thread a little hard to follow.

bios unlocked, xx38xx whitelist bios flashed, and BCM94352Z installed! installing bluetooth drivers in windows now, in case it needs to be "activated" for OS X...

... and all is good now. BT working and switchable, and internal wifi at 2.4/5 GHz

Definitely use your own bios. Bios flashing is risky, so better be on the safe side.

Boot to windows, close the lid, wait a moment, open it, then run both as administrator. Then post the results to the bios mods forum and buy them a beer (non-optional).

Amazing to hear, I'm quite a bit worried about installing the BCM94352Z on mine, I haven't done anything hardware related so far.

Anything which I should be careful of, or anything unexpected during the change?
Thanks!

swap was simple. hardest part was re-connecting the wires, since the connection is so small. and always safer to disconnect the battery

I did it! I had some troubles with one of the screws not wanting to be removed, but swapping the card worked. :)

I am having some troubles setting it up for OSX, would you mind sharing a zip of your clover folder?

Best, Laura
