Forgive me for my ignorance but the Asus TUF Gryphon Z97 doesn't seem to be $320, it actually is significantly less if you can find it. Im seeing around $170 USD. It seems that a lot of boards are out of stock. Is this because they are older and harder to find or obsolete? I'm a bit confused.

Yes, I was looking for it and I can't find it. I can find another version mATX for about £140.

NOTE: Could you please let me know the components you are planning to use? I think we have almost the same needs and I'm getting crazy with all possibilities... :p

For now I have clear that I want I7 with 32Gb of RAM but is so difficult to choose the mother board...

Thanks in advance!

I took the prices I lisrted from Amazon.com in US. Z97 boards are getting scarce on the market and some sellers are gouging on the really good boards. If you can find one for $170 new then go for it.

Since the OEMs are pushing Skylake, they are not making Haswell/Broadwell boards anymore and the supply is drying up. It is either get it now or forget it - it may not be there tomorrow.

Yeah I kind of figured as much. Well I've been searching and pricing all day and have found a pretty nice setup with that same board for $170. I'll post when I get home as I'm currently walking in freezing cold weather (Massachusetts.)

I found the same one in Amazon for £138 but ASUS has a promotion now that if you buy it before 10th January they give you back about £30.

My concern about this motherboard is that everyone suggests to buy ATX not mATX as you have more option for upgrade and for the heat. What do you think about this?

I was looking at this one too "ASRock Mod 1150 ASRock Z97X Killer ATX Motherboard", what you think?

Only if you have a bunch of PCIe cards and need the slots do you have any option for upgrade better than the mATX board. If all you have is one or two GPU, then mATX makes sense.

Should work - it is in the list of mainboards in the Buyer's Guide.

Thank you very much for all the advise!

This is so far what I have on mind, for now I will go with only 16Gb of RAM and no GPU, I will try with the built-in one, also I will use network cable for internet and I will use the fan which is coming with the I7. (Do you think I should buy another one?)

Please let me know your thoughts and if you think I should add something else.

Yes, buy a CPU cooler. Dont use the stock one. They suck.. If you want silent, go with a Noctua ..

Well I'm not sure that a 6% performance increase and higher price for a chip is totally worth it at that point in the game. Especially since Skylake is not yet stable with OS X. What I'd be paying for at this point is potential head aches and to be among the elite (not really) to be using Skylake. I'm sure the chips price is its highest right now

I didn't mean to go Skylake but i7 instead of i5 (question in your second post). Skylake is interesting as a hobby but as long as there is no proper and complete support I would never consider it for anything else.

I think what you should do is start your own thread if you want to list parts and get advice.
I also think you need to read the rules again about hijacking another's thread and the rules on sigs and re-do your sig.

Sorry if I annoyed anyone...

I have started couple of days ago my own thread but nobody replied, I thought as this was kind of the same setup I wanted I could join here.

I won't disturb anymore...
