I recently found out from toleda that a second SSDT is needed for 9 Series boards. See Post# 530 for more information. First of all, thank you for this guide. It's well written, incredibly detailed and properly referenced. Well done!

I'm running pretty much identical hardware.

- Intel Core i7 4790k
- Gigabyte z97mx-gaming 5
- 32GB DDR3 1600 Corsair Ballistics Tactical
- EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0
- Samsung 850 Pro
- Fractal Design Node 804 (2xUSB3.0)

The only difference I can think of in my setup is that I used F6 bios firmware instead of F5. Because of this, I never had to adjust anything to get native power management to work properly. My CPU is under no load or temp stress at idle and it ramps up and down like you expect any CPU would. Great!

USB 3.0 however is another story. None but 1 of the front USB3 ports worked. I too used kextbeast to extract those two KEXT files /Library/Extensions/. After reboot, the USB3 ports were recognized, and system profiler displayed the ports as shown in your post, even showed USB 3.0 drives connected at 5Gbps, but actual transfer speeds were abysmal. Black magic shows write speeds at 15MB/s at best and read speeds are 90MB/s at best. More than that, anytime a USB 3.0 drive was plugged in, it would reek havoc on the USB 2.0 devices plugged in such as the bluetooth adapter. Since we're running identical hardware, I don't know what the issue could be. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you check the USB 3.0 speeds with another device? I know my 16GB provides significantly less speed than the 32GB

Also, Im unsure what you mean by "Reek Havoc" Could you be a little more specific. As I am having no issues here

I was suffering the same low speeds as well until I looked up the specs for the device I was testing - even though it was supposed to be USB 3.0 it was only rated for Read 15Mb and they didn't post the write speed, so that's a very good point!

also, as a side note, having no conflict issues either.

I've tested it with multiple USB 3.0 flash drives as well as external HDDs. The speed problems persist across devices. Whenever something is plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports, the entire system becomes sluggish. My bluetooth Apple mouse and keyboard paired with a USB dongle plugged into one of the USB 2.0 ports almost become unresponsive when something is plugged into one of the USB 3.0 ports. I also tried with a Logitech k400 and their universal IR dongles to. Same issues with that keyboard and trackpad.

Is it possible that post #12 on this page could fix the issue.

I know the MB isn't the same and it's not a step your included your guide, but I don't to go around changing things without knowing what they'll do and/or break.

IDK what the patch for AppleUSBXHCIPCI does :think:. You could always try it. The best way would be to create a bootable Clover USB (copy your EFI folder, from your working system, to the USB drive) and make your edits to that config.plist. That way you can F12 into BIOS boot options and choose the USB drive. Making changes to the USB drives config.plist, allows you access back into your system incase you mess something up :thumbup:
 
n3oNLit3, thanks for putting this together! I was leaning towards a different motherboard but decided to go with the Z97MX-Gaming 5 based on your guide, so thanks!

I'm wondering what CPU fan you choose, if any other than stock.
