One last data point to add to the conversation, and hth:

save your AtherosL1cEthernet.kext, if you have one, and are using it, as the latest Multibeast (8.0.1) does not offer it, and the GA-Z77X-UD5H requires it for ethernet to function (or at least mine did.)

Again, thanks for the help, folks.

The AtherosE2200Ethernet.kext will work in its place. That is what I am currently running.

Slightly off topic but what program do you use to clone a bootable? SuperDuper or CCC? Thanks again!

Hi n3oNLit3,

can you check of sleep is working after the update on your rig please? Because that is the one thing that was working before and is not working now on my comp after. I have a reboot when i try to wake up, and can not find anything in my console log. I do have a 3770, 16Gb GSkil Ram, and a GTX 580.

btw. Thank you very much for this guide.

I second that! Effortless update, although it took about 20 minutes - I don't know if that's too long - and it froze once on the reboot.

"Select SMBIOS from the options on the left. I use iMac 13,2 as the system definition. Alternatively you could use Mac Mini 6,x both similarly match for hardware and will work in achieving Native Power Management."

The proper system definition is one of the bigger mysteries to me. My Yosemite is Mac Pro 3,1 and I followed your guide to the letter for a perfect El Capitan build. But I noticed my GeekBench and CineBench scores were 15% lower on El Capitan. I then switched to Mac 3,1. So, I get the "more than occasional" reboot-loop on startup, but higher bench scores. Go figure.... I haven't tried Mac Mini.

I understand certain things load or don't load depending on the definition?
