In your case, probably. The guide is not written for, nor has been tested on, any of the i3 models. The configuration files do not match your hardware either. The guide very specifically states which hardware is covered, and that does not include any other NUC models.

with some tweaks, audio and network are operational... i do think there are some hick-ups sometimes but its possible to run it on the i3

Search the forums; the newer models have install guides for them. This guide won't work for those models.

I'm afraid I don't own my NUC any more. I don't see why not, but I can't help you with that.
