Just thought I'd share this with anyone who might need it. I had an Dell Inspiron 530 I was going throw out. But...I thought what the hey, let's see if Yosemite will run on it.

1. Made a clover boot USB using legacy settings

2. Modified the Dell stock bios using information here at mod-bios forum
this allowed for ACHI settings. Also chose HPET 64bit

3. Installed just like other clover legacy
- FakeSMC.kext
- NullCPUPowerManagement.kext
- realtekALC.kext

4. Once installed, log into Yosemite and install Clover , add your kext

- FakeSMC.kext
- NullCPUPowerManagement.kext
- realtekALC.kext
- EvoBoot.kext

Clover - kext-dev-mode=1 nvda_drv=1

5. I also installed the latest NVIDA drivers Geforce GT610

6. I disabled on-board ethernet since it's not gigabit and used the old gigabit Trendnet card that I already had in there. Had to install the AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext. for some reason it was missing

7. Used toleda/audio_CloverALC for audio ALC888 legacy

Runs so much smother and faster than windows.

Thank you very much
I am trying to install El Capitan, I have succeeded in installing it but I am experiencing problems with multibeast I always end with a system blockage

Any advices

Cheers

Couple questions for OP if he's still around..

Just installed El Capitan using Uni, though I am going to be using Clover BL as long as its all compatible..

1. Is the BIOS mod for the 530's absolutely necessary ? I've been able to get away with both Yosemite and now El Capitan without any noticeable problems.. Aside from a few gripes that I know are just incompatible. The RAID setting enables AHCI from what I've read.

(I had a question about the ALC driver but missed the specified file further down :banghead:) Drinking coffee now.

Breathing some new life into this old system with OS X was probably the best idea ever. Windows 10 is torment and Linux at times can be garbage for support, although everything is supported - I'm just picky.

I'd like to also thank you, OP; if you're in fact still around for giving me the inspiration in doing this. Without googling "Hackintosh inspiron 530" I never would have learned what I have and be where I'm at now.
Also, thank you TonyMac for making this process near painless ! :)

I'm still rocking mine. first i did was 10.5 leopard. I'm currently stuck on lion due to my graphics card. use it for final cut pro x. What graphic card have you got in yours? not sure what size can fit in there.

Anyone have a copy of the bios? I have motherboard DG33M03 running a q9300.. Or is there another way around enabling ACHI? When I get to Disk Utility, I can't seen any of my SSD's that are currently in the system.
