Guide To Install Yosemite on HP Laptops with Clover UEFI

First of all, thanks to nguyenmac, RehabMan and everyone involve in turning this laptop to a MacBook :headbang:

I just bought 2nd hand HP Elitebook 8460p. Now preparing the installation USB with Clover as in guide. This is my first time to install using Clover. Will update to you guys how it goes.
Anyway while waiting for the process complete. Here I attach the device in this laptop...

As in the guide, seems I need to replace the wifi adapter. But for now I'll proceed with the default wifi adapter first. Is there any other else I need to replace?

I also updated the BIOS

The config.plist I choose is HD3000 1366x768

Sorry for the dummy question :)

I will install all the FakeSMC_(Sensors).kext and my current in user FaceSMC.kext stays the old one?
Just placing them into Clover folder and use kext injection would not work?

Thanks.
Yours Simon

You should install the sensors and FakeSMC as a set. Do not mix versions.

Good afternoon all,

Firstly can i say thank you for such a precise guide, as a noob I have managed to get to a significant stage without having to ask any questions.

Unfortunately I am now stuck and having tried a number of times must admit defeat and ask for assistance. I have managed to install OS X to my HDD and can boot into OS X with the assistance of the USB stick to access the PBI, I have set the settings for my laptop, resolution etc and the PBI installer completes. I then reboot the laptop and clover screen appears, I select boot from my HDD and the apple logo and load bar appears. The load bar gets about a third of the way through and then black screens. I still see activity from the USB and HDD for a further 20-30 seconds and then nothing it just stays on a black screen.

Im sure you are going to tell me i have missed something but I don't know what as I have tried to follow the guide to the letter?

My laptop is a HP 6570b, I5 ivybridge 3230m 2.6Ghz. 17AB motherboard.

I have attached troubleshooting file and would be grateful of your assistance.

Thanks Rob.

Did you press your brightness up key?

Make sure you selected the correct screen type.

Please provide complete details in your profile/signature
(Profile/Settings link in upper right corner of this site)

System: manufacturer/model + bootloader(Clover/Chameleon/Chimera)
CPU: detailed CPU model + motherboard chipset
Graphics: all graphics devices + laptop internal screen resolution

For example, typical Ivy laptop:
Mobo: HP ProBook 4540s (Clover)
CPU: i5-3320m/HM76
Graphics: HD4000, 1366x768

Use CPU-Z on Windows to find CPU (Core iX-xxx) and motherboard chipset (HMxx), and graphics capabilities. For a laptop, these details are important and affect critical installation procedures.

Thank you Rehabman this resolved the problem, do I need to do this every time I boot up or is there a fix for this.

I have tried to edit my signature and hope it is now presented as requested

thanks Rob.

If NVRAM is implemented correctly, it will save/restore across reboot.

I believe this issue is caused by having unnecessary kexts in EFI/Clover/kexts. Only essential kexts should be there (FakeSMC, VoodooPS2Controller, networking kexts [depends on hardware]).

Hi

I am sorry but I am a complete noob so I don't fully understand everything you have said there. Would it be possible for you to guide me through where I need to check / amend / delete as necessary to resolve this please?

Thanks if you can.

If you follow the guide in post #1, NVRAM is working...

Thank you again for your reply.

Would you suggest I wipe and do a fresh install then as at present when I tried rebooting I had to adjust the brightness again?

I also have no sound, and have not tested anything else but I could follow the next part of the guide to resolve that

Thanks
