Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.10

Normal, as no official Mac is having this CPU. It is just cosmetic as obviously, your system is working ;-)
Of course it works :) mine was just curiosity :p

I have the same problem with this on my asus x99-A but this specific clover 3270 fixed it. The version before - I was able to boot only once per 5 trials. Try to boot several times until you pass this.

Hi,
Can someone tell me what this means?

OsxAptioFixDrv: Starting overrides for System\Library\CoreServices\boot.efi
Using reloc block: yes, hibernate wake: no
OsxAptioFixDrv: AllocateRelocBlock(): can not allocate relocation block (0x1A13E pages below 0x100000000): Not Found

I get stuck here when booting with clover. I left clover plist at default, exept selecting imac 14,2 and adding boot flags npci=0x2000, nvidia_drv=1 and chose to inject nvidia drivers in clover configurator (I'm not sure if I have to do that).

I also installed nvidia web drivers for yosemite 10.10.5 because my screen went blank the first time I booted with clover. I made the USB with unibeast and installed from USB and used clover for post install.

This is my hardware configuration:
MSI X99S SLI PLUS (MS-7885 - BIOS v1.80)
Haswell-e i7 5820K
Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 760
4x4GB DDR4-2400 XMP1
Audio: Realtek HDA
LAN: Intel Ethernet I218-V
Installation: Hard Disk notebook Seagate Laptop SSHD 500GB 5400RPM 64MB SATA-III
Other Hard Disks: ADATA SSD S510 120GB, Samsung HD103SJ (1TB)

These are the exact boxes I ticked when I installed clover:

I used Clover_v2.3k_r3270 from http://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/

what is the current best method to get some speedstep working with our haswell-e? Null cpu kext or some other way? I need to lower power consumption (it heats in my room too much...)

edit: well ok I just enabled speedstep in bios, allowing cstates in bios and enabling hyperthreading and also overclocked the cpu by 125 ratio (so its 4.1Ghz, I have 3.3 Ghz cpu) and I have to my surprise speedsteping in the OS and the score in geekbench is around 3800 for single CPU core which is enough for me right now.

My ambient temperature lowered about 10C which is what I wanted without performance impact.

I followed this guide and now it boots :headbang:
https://nickwoodhams.com/x99-hackin...relocblock-can-not-allocate-relocation-block/

I also managed to setup clover, but sound doesn't work no matter what I do. I also have a problem with appstore, I can't log in... and of course no tutorial out there worked for me

My system uses Realtek ALC892 chipset.

If anybody has a new solution to the sound and appstore problem, please help.
I also have some problems when playing videos from youtube. The image freezes after a few seconds or instantly. I installed and reinstalled flash, but the problem persists.

I tried many tutorials to make the sound work, as this is my main concern right now (multibeast, kext ulity, toleda... nothing worked)

I will reinstall Yosemite, see if I manage to fix these problems with a fresh system and let you know if this will do it for me.

for the sound use the voodoo HDA driver https://sourceforge.net/projects/voodoohda/

Sometimes it would help to completely turn off your PC and turn it on. When I was experimenting with patched apple driver and voodoo some settings in the HW persists even though you do soft reboot (at least for me) and the driver started to work when I turned the pc off/on

Apparently the Yosemite Vanilla kernel only works for the Xeon 6-core and 12-core.
My X99 system with i7 5820K does not need a patch anymore for 10.10.5.

So did you or did you not need a patch?

Any adjustments I'd need to make to this guide doing a 12/14/18 core Xeon install on the X99-UD4?

Thanks,

jb

I'll be out of class ~4PM East Coast time, I'll go ahead and do a full reinstall on my system on a spare drive. From what I can tell, the issues with Clover having memory errors are fixable (which is the only reason I'm booting with Chimera) and with Clover, I should be fine to install 10.10.5 (currently running 10.10.4 due to a FileNVRAM.kext bug in 10.10.5 which causes a system halt.)

Hopefully, I'll be able to boot the system WITH clover despite my full rack of PCIe devices and forego a kernel patch. I'll report back with my findings.

EDIT: (9/25)

I can confirm that a 10.10.5 Clover Installer boots up on my GA-X99-UD4 system with an i7-5820K as long as I use the "Test2.efi" provided by Nick Woodhams (LINK). A kernel patch was NOT required. However, I did not do an install. I am in the process of cloning over my working install (which is on an MBR drive as I am booting with Chimera) over to a GPT hard drive, and running the 10.10.5 combo update (I'm still on 10.10.4.) I'll then forward over the Clover settings from my Install USB and look for a start up. Will update this post.

\\ Clone/Update successful. Trying a test boot now.

// It worked perfectly. Even booted with the default Clover config.plist from the official guide, all I had to do was add npci=0x2000 to it. I'm going to clean up my Clover settings and clone back over to my SSD. I would like to emphasize that I am booting WITHOUT a kernel patch. This is the NATIVE kernel for 10.10.5.

\\ Cloning back to my SSD. I've opted to inject all the kexts I can, rather than keeping them in S/L/E.

// Clone successful. The system is incredible, no more permissions issues or slow start up like I had with Chimera on occasion.

\\ Spoke too soon. It appears that the "Test2.efi" does not work anymore. I had to remove several PCIe devices (my Blackmagic Intensity Pro and an eSATA card) in order to boot up. Also, Clover hangs at boot when I disable XHCI in the BIOS, which as many X99 users know, messes with our illusion of makeshift power management. It's taken my Multi Core down to just above 16K from almost 20K.

// I have now deleted the "Test2.efi" and have booted successfully. Next, I am going to try to disable XHCI in the BIOS. Here we go...

\\ Still cannot boot without XHCI enabled which is no fun for speedstep, etc. Anyone experienced this?

I have the MSI X99A SLI Plus and was successful using this guide, give it a try it might work for you.

Why did you change your boot flags post installation?
