Hey all,

I have a question for you. I'm running an X99-UD4 with a 5930K and a GTX970, and I'm looking to purchase the Thunderbolt add in card that Gigabyte makes and I'm wanting to know if it's worth the $50 or so to buy it. I'm looking into purchasing some Pro Audio gear and it requires Thunderbolt to connect with.

So....If there's anyone out there that has some insight on to how well this card works in a Hackintosh, any advise would be appreciated. Cause the reviews I've read don't look so promising.

Thanks a bunch!
Brian

I purchased two and couldn't get either to work in OS X, and my TB-SSD would only show up in Windows when it was plugged in after bootup.. So safe to say, I didn't get to a point in which I could test with my Apollo Twin.

Best of luck to you and hopefully you get different results!

The TBII card by ASUS does not work in MacOSX without first being authorized in windows - from my experience. I have done some kext modifications but so far - this is the only way I can get thunderbolt working. Now - I do have a friend of mine who said that with the right kext installed, this ASUS Thunderbolt card will work natively but it's a painful process. I'd like to to get some info first and post it. Also, you do have to make sure that this card installed in the 2nd PCIe lane just below where you'd put your graphics. I have an extra card, but it was out of box and has no TB header cable with it. If you try and get ASUS to send you a TB header cable it will be a miracle! They don't like doing this....

Oh, I forgot to mention that I've been using the Asus cards for quite some time with success. Any also yes, I had to deal with a missing header adapter cable and after talking with Asus, I had to contact the reseller and arrange a return of the whole item so that I could purchase a new one... :banghead:

Dude you menage work on x99-ud4 with gc-thunderbolt 2 and run UAD on this?

asus model ?

ThunderboltEX II Dual, but I have been able to get the single-port version to work as well. But I wouldn't advise trying to switch them out after install.. I had to uninstall and reinstall TB drivers in Windows multiple times to get it to work after switching...
