Hi Guys,

Im having quite a bit of trouble updating from 10.10.5 to 11.11,

I downloaded the GM Candidate from App Store, then i tried to install it then says reboot. So when i reboot i thought id check in Clover boot menu to see if Install El Capitan GM Candidate was an option and it was'nt. After reading alot of posts, i then decided to make an USB everything goes well there, i copy my kexts and so on. When i reboot i finally get the Install GM Candidate in Clover boot menu i decide to run it with nv_disable=1

3/4 it loads USB is loading HDD is loading a bit, then suddenly i just sit and stare at that for like 10 min and there comes a white screen (2 scenarios: 1: first white screen with a loading mouse that i can move around, but no installer. 2: no mouse no installer just a white screen) in both scenarios I've waited like 15 min before rebooting.

Does anyone have these problems?? And if so have they got a fix for it?? Any help is much appreciated..:banghead:

To get the USB working: try removing all the numbered directories under kexts/ and putting the kexts you need into Other/

If you want to try from the in-place upgrade instead, boot without the USB and list all the boot options it gives you. On a plain Yosemite system, I normally have two (regular and recovery) and after starting the El Capitan upgrade I had three. I forget what the third was called, but it went into the El Capitan installer. You'd probably need the same kext changes (putting them into Other/) on the EFI partition of your hard drive, as well as potentially the Aptio update, in order to complete the upgrade.

Have you addressed the potential OsxAptio issue? Have you tried issuing any other boot flags?

Have you tried with only FakeSMC.kext? Do you have the newest?

Just some thoughts

Have you set BooterConfig to 0x28 and CsrActiveConfig to 0x3?

On the USB or in my 10.10.5 install?

And isnt it possible to do an install directly from 10.10.5 to El Capitan without USB? Just upgrading?

While it is possible, its not recommended (at least by some)... YMMV ;) Try running the installer from your current system and see what happens

I tried running it, but after it's run it says reboot to finish installation.. then it just boots into Yosemite again :S and i dont get any Boot Into El Capitan Installer option in Clover boot menu.. either

There is three options, one is boot yosemite the other is boot yosemite installer (if i choose this it just goes 3/4 and then reboots the system) and then there is boot recovery..

If you're going to try an in-place upgrade from 10.10.5, you'd need to add those settings to your 10.10.5 EFI config.plist, so when you reboot to the installer, they're there.

If you're going to try installing it from a USB instead, then you'd need those settings in the config.plist on the EFI partition on the USB instead. But you'd probably want to copy them to the EFI partition on your disk after the install (before you boot without the USB) so any driver installations or post-install configuration goes smoothly.
