Hey good luck with your M8... I had a good experience with mine but have sold it as I needed the cash more then another system (current count is about 12 systems in my office/lab).

You should be able to bring up your Ethernet without much trouble, use MultiBeast to install AppleIntelE_1000E and then a high numbered version of VoodooHDA for the sound.

I see you are running with an i7-4790K! Are you able to keep it cool?

Multi-beast 7.5.0 doesn't list intel E -E AppleIntelE1000e v2.4.14 or v2.5.4d or v3.0.4 1a or 3.1.0a and v3.2.4.2 so i used the last one.... and hoped for the best still get this and wont boot without the usb boot loader,,,, ebios read error 0x31 four (4) times then loads with usb stick so maybe i have a bios setting yet to correct ?

without the usb stick i get this
boot0: GPT
boot0:test
boot0:test
boot0:test
boot0: GPT
boot0:test

boot0:test
boot0:error

Check out this guide for the boot0 error: http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/65706-boot0-error-official-guide.html

eBios error is usually from the card reader. The solution is to turn off the card reader in the BIOS or add a formatted card to the reader.

I am sorry for the late reply as I missed seeing your question.

Anyway I have sold my modded M8 so this is from memory. I looked at changing the fan direction but I think I ended up up using them as installed. I did remove the restrictive grill at the bottom and paid much attention to the cable dress so as to not impede the air flow in the case. In my set up I ran my thermal stress tests with and without the side covers, and while running "warm" under full load, the system was stable so I left it and moved on.

I have been tempted to purchase another M8 when and if I find them for a "good" price as there is a lot of good tech for very little money (the motherboard, PSU, PCIe Extender card, and slot loading optical drive).

Hello, thanks a lot Neil.

I live in Reunion Island and its hot. I think build my M8 this week. I7 4790k with Noctua on the CPU. GTX 1070 and 2x 8 go RAM gskill. 1 SSD 500GO and 1 other 2,5 of 1TO. I let the orignal fan of the case

I hope roxx and not burn.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards Romain

Romain thank you for your interest. I did not know where Reunion Island was located so I had to look it up on the internet. I am very impressed that you are working on hacks there.

I was thinking about a mod to help in very hot locations. You may want to look at running the system with the right side panel off. Also you could mod the right side panel and install a fan to help exhaust the hot air.

I too have had this PC setup, and would love to turn it into a hackintosh!! Any chance you could msg. me a link to the files I need and instructions onto how I'd go about installing Mac onto this thing?? I have an old 2011 iMac and have access to many different flavors of iOS (not that they all work on my old iMac). And I have a separate 500 gig drive hooked up to the M8 that's empty for testing.. the other 1tb drive has windows 10 installed.. Any help for a hackintosh noob, would be greatly appreciated!!

It has an Intel i5, 16gigs of RAM, and a Nvidia 960 (I think.. I'd have to look it up).

I've had this M8 for almost 5 years, and looking to upgrade to a new PC system. But it's too nice to put away and not use it for something, so a hackintosh would be a great idea, and I could replace my old tired 2011 iMac!! Which my wife complains is too old and slow to use..

Well it has been a long time and I have only good feelings about the M8. It should be an easy hack if you install High Sierra 10.13.6 using the TonyMacX86 tools. Your Nvidia 960 is not supported in Mojave but is supported in High Sierra by using the Nvidia Web drivers.
