Happy to report that my BCM943224HMS is now fully functional after following Toleda's guide. Took maybe 10 min total.

One last question, WonkeyDonkey - I assume App Store updates are not possible? Just hate seeing those red "updates are available" notifications...

You can happily do updates from the App Store, but I would always recommend to download the update files manually, run them locally from the machine then reboot.

No go. Both the the App Store, and the downloaded 10.9.5 combo update (Sep 17 2014) produce the same results. Install completes normally, NUC restarts, I get to the usual Chimera interface, then whether I press enter or it auto-loads OSX, regardless, the comp simply reboots instantly. I tried -x and all the flags from this guide, no difference. Verbose mode shows normal loading until sudden reboot. Luckily, I have a full disk image backup, which I can restore at any time, but this is discouraging. Any ideas?

You probably need a patched kernel for the version you are updating to. But why an old version of OSX ? Yosemite works really well now and much smoother too.

Is there a sierra version of this guide?
