Just wanted to let everyone know that I installed the brand new 346.01.02f03 web drivers this morning, and I was getting consistent whole-system freezes 10 minutes or so after boot, and power cycling was my only option.

My build:

  • i7-4790K
  • Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7 TH
  • Crucial Ballistix Tactical 32GB
  • EVGA 980 4GB sc acx 2.0
  • 1TB 850 EVO SSD

I re-installed the previous 346.01.f202 drivers, which over-wrote the newest driver, and I am back to normal. No freezes.

Would love any insight into this!!!

No issues here. Have been running them for a few days now.

I also haven't had any problems with similar setup. I have my computer running 24/7

My system is also on 24/7 and I spent several hours yesterday editing and rendering video in Adobe Premier using the Mecury OpenCL engine without issue.

hmmm, well is there something I could try then? It froze every single time i booted after the update. and i edit with premiere and use after effects too. After I reverted I haven't froze yet at all today.

try downloading the driver and install it not using the the driver manager

Thanks for the tip, unfortunately I still freeze when installing the standalone package. It's obvious from this thread that I'm the odd man out and everyone else seems to be running fine with the update. I'm just trying to figure out where to go from here, because it's definitely the act of installing the drivers that causes the freezes.

Are there any error logs in /Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports or messages in /var/log/system.log around the time of the freeze? I've also been running the latest drivers on my GTX 980 without any problems at all. What boot loader are you using?

What is the rom version of yours gpu ?
Did you make clean install with booting nv_disable=1 and running kext utility before restart after installation?
You are using Chameleon, Clover UEFI or Clover normal ?

We have pretty much same hardware and I have upgraded drivers via nvidia control panel. Didn't encounter with any problem so far except some crashes with specific games :)

According to the system profiler, the GPU BIOS version shows "ROM Revision: VBIOS 84.04.2f.00.80"

I installed with chameleon, just following the installation guide. You can see my build post here. When I updated the web drivers i did NOT use nv_disable=1 or run a kext utility. can you explain that a little more? it sounds like my only shot at this point!!
