After deleting an existing framebuffer patch I had in place and updating as @Smoc suggested, my NUC works fine.

Just wondering what framebuffer patch you deleted. Was it the AppleIntelFramebufferAzul patch?


Also - based upon what I read, I tried an update method, but it didn't work - although I thought it should. What I tried was

NOTE: THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME (yet)

1) Backup to Time Capule
2) With Clover Configurator, mount EFI, open the existing config.plist and add the Intel Injection as Smoc suggested. Save to the EFI partition under a different name, e.g. config.plist.new
3) Download the 10.10.3 Combo Update and install
4) After installation and upon the first reboot, enter the OSX Recovery partition
5) Open a Terminal, mount the EFI partition and swap the config.plists, sync, and unmount
6) Reboot to the normal partition

NOTE: THIS DID NOT WORK FOR ME (yet)

I ended up getting the boot loop when the graphics tried to load. I could move the HD5000 kext out of the way as you say and log in normally, but with bad graphics.

What befuddles me is --- if the solution is just to update the config.plist, why didn't my pre-modified plist work the first time? Maybe re-installing clover does something more than just change the config.plist. I'll try it again when I get some time.

The following did work for me...

Over in the 10.10.3 discussion thread, user tr43 said that the 10.10.3 upgrade worked "perfectly" . It turns out he is using the DSDT, kexts, and configs from http://osxonthinkpads.wikidot.com/10-10-x-on-intel-nuc-i5-4250

The page has a great technical write up on the various mods for our NUCs and the configuration happened to use the same wireless/BT card that I picked up. So this is what I did...

1) Downloaded the file package from http://osxonthinkpads.wikidot.com/10-10-x-on-intel-nuc-i5-4250
2) Created a valid serial number and edited the config.plist (I used Clover Configurator, but only to edit the serial number)
3) I reinstalled Clover r3193 making sure that I installed OsxAptioFix2Drv-64 driver (I didn't use the version 2 driver the first time and may have been why it didn't work for me earlier)
4) Copied over the kexts, ACPI/patched, and modified config.plist to the EFI partition
5) Rebooted to make sure that everything was fine - it was.
6) Downloaded the 10.10.3 Combo Update and installed
7) Rebooted - worked "perfectly"

If you don't want to change your Clover drivers as much as I did, you might look into whether you installed the version 2 driver OsxAptioFix2Drv-64 driver. This was not part of Minihack's original guide (so I didn't select it). Combine this with the IntelInjection above and you might have more success.

yes, it was the AppleIntelFramebufferAzul patch that I removed from the config.plist in Minihack's NUC Essentials.

FWIW, I also used the combo update, updated Clover to 3193, and updated my bios to 0037 at the same time.
