Guide to Installing Mountain Lion on HP Probook

I posted it in 451

It looks correct. Please see note regarding using HDMI monitor. Also keep in mind booting the Yosemite installer is NOT quick. You also have to use the correct USB port.

I still don't understand that my WiFi adapter won't connect anymore. The WiFi log shows many unknown locale 60 messages. Can that be the cause? I use the AR5B195.

Strange, why did it work before? Can this only be done from Windows?

No idea really... The regdomain definitely affects which networks you can see. It is important to set it correctly, but the results may depend on which region you're in. I'm in the U.S./Canada and have mine set to 0x64.

It is easiest to use the Linux method. Windows is a bit of a pain due to driver signing requirements, etc.

Also, it is possible you have a different issue with WiFi. There are many ways to screw it up...

I hooked the laptop up over HDMI to my TV last evening hoping I could get the installer boot. The TV showed a white screen at first but later turned black. I waited some time, about 15 minutes because the light on the usb stick was flashing now and then. I tried USB ports on the left and right, but gave up in the end. Seems the installer won't boot because I might have done something horribly wrong. Or are there other possibilities I could try?

You should try all USB ports (and a different USB stick -- USB2 sticks work best).

Also, reset BIOS settings then modify accordingly.

Also, redownload from the Mac App Store and re-create your USB.
