New Site Feature: Recommend Your Favorite Threads

Happy New Year everyone! We have a ton of amazing new features in store for the site this year. Today we're rolling out a brand new feature that allows users to recommend forum threads.

View Recommended Threads​

Here's how it works- click the Recommend link at the top right corner of any thread in the forum. This will both add a Recommend to that thread, and add the link to My Recommendations. The number next to the button represents the amount of users who have recommended that thread.

We don't have any idea how this will turn out, but we're excited to see what happens. We're thinking it will grow into a nice collection of user recommended posts, kind of like our old Golden Threads section. Start recommending forum threads today!

Awesome idea!

It seems like the recommend button is only next to the very first post. Is there a way to have it float up top of each page instead (good for super huge threads)? -Or maybe something similar? Do you guys see that as helpful or nit picky?

I would really like to be able to see all front page posts in chronological order instead of some sort of importance ranking. I know that I can already do that organized by category but not all categories combined.

If this is already available please forgive me and somebody show me how!

The site's home page (top part) is in date order- with all published Articles showing in the date they were posted. You may be confused about what constitutes a forum thread vs. an article. I am too sometimes.

Plus, we've been monkeying around with site design, so if something doesn't look right let us know.

You are the best! Thanks for the clarification - and that this is supposed to be about the forum vs. an article.

I guess I get tripped up when important articles seem to stick around in the large top box while less important articles seem to move lower down the chronological list (I think that that is what I have observed). I would love to see a chronological list as apposed to a series of chronological tiles. Probably just a personal preference.

Want to take this opportunity to thank you and the community. I built a beautiful Ivy Hackintosh this summer and set my buddy up with the same setup. We could not have done it without you and the wonderful folks in this community.
