Motherboard
DELL 0JRYH9 (Intel HM77 (Panther Point))
CPU
Intel Core i7-3537U (1900.0 MHz)
Graphics
Intel HD4000 + Nvidia 630M Optimus
Thought I would post my Dell Laptop results up to this point and try and obtain some help for the last parts. Once I am successful I will turn this over to a guide.

My setup:

Computer Brand Name: DELL Inspiron 5523 (15z)
Processor: Intel Core i7-3517U (1900.0 MHz)
Motherboard: DELL 0JRYH9 (Intel HM77 (Panther Point))
Memory: 8 GBytes (Dual-Channel)
SAMSUNG SSD 256GB (Windows)
Seagate 1TB Laptop SSHD, SATA III w/ 64MB Cache (MacOS)
Display Adapter: Intel HD4000 + Nvidia 630M Optimus
Audio Adapter: Intel Panther Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller [C1]
Network Adapter: Wifi Atheros 9280
Atheros AR8161/8165 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Battery: DELL TPMCF2A

My Installation:

- Yosemite with Unibeast/Multibeast
- Used 'nv_disable=1 dart=0' in order to load into the installer
- Installed successfully
- Rebooted into Yosemite with the same flags
- Originally tried using EasyBeast and DSDT Free; neither were successful
- With some research and work I installed the following
- Patched DSDT/SSDT
- Kexts in Extra/Extensions
- FakeSMC
- ACPIBatteryManager - Battery Status
- VoodooPS2Controller - Mouse/Keyboard
- ACPIBacklight - Backlight control
- GenericUSBXHCI - USB 3.0 if it exists in your system
- NullCPUPowerManagement until you have a patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement
- Updated the 'org.chameleon.boot.plist'
- Updated the SMBios.plist to reflect 8,2

So once I have done all of that, I try and reboot. The last unsuccessful reboot generated the attached image. So this is where I am stuck and in need of some assistance to see if there is something in there that makes sense. The photo is not cut off; this is simply where it stopped loading.

You should have no kexts in /Extra/Extensions.

NullCPU is not appropriate for laptops. See power management: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-laptop-support/146870-guide-native-power-management-laptops.html

MacBookPro8,2 is not correct for Ivy CPU.

You need to use nv_disable=1 to keep nvidia drivers from interfering with startup.

See guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...-booting-os-x-installer-laptops-unibeast.html

Once again thank you for the information. I will work my through the Power Management Guide and clean up the items you have made note of. As I was reading through I noticed the reference to MB Patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement. The version in there is listed as 10.9. Is this version acceptable for Yosemite?

You can use the patched AICPUPM in MB, or you can patch it yourself (to have Yosemite version)... google it.

Personally, I prefer to use Clover as patching is done on-the-fly.

If you have UEFI it is a no brainer: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...oting-os-x-installer-laptops-clover-uefi.html

Thank you again RehabMan, as usual your guidance has been invaluable. I have now been able to get a successful reboot using DSDT-free and creating a proper SMBios. I will continue along following your guide to create SSDT and DSDT files.

Now its a matter of testing everything to see what I can live without and what I need to fix, such as my sound.

I think next time I go about this I will also follow your Clover guide!

Are any of the MB Realtek or Universal patches known to work in a pinch until I can work through the AppleHDA patch or is this just wishful thinking?

VoodooHDA is always a possibility, but it usually does not work well...

VoodooHDA is always a possibility, but it usually does not work well...

As always, thank you for the information. This build would not have been possible without your knowledge and support!

I have installed the VoodooHDA which is working, though as you indicated, not the best, but its sound non-the-less until I can build a patched AppleHDA.

Now comes the rest of the work to make this a solid build. I am still fighting the 'tethered' way of booting...meaning that I still have to use the usb to get it to boot into Yosemite but I suspect that this is due to the way I have things set up;
HDD1 - Windows
HDD2 (via HD Caddy) - Yosemite

If I try just f12 without the USB it won't boot, when I use the USB and select HDD2 it will load the bootloader for me to select Yosemite. I think I understand that this is because the bootloader wants to install on HD1 but can't because of windows?

So far here is what works.
- Battery indicator (via your kext)
- Backlight (via your kext)
- Sound (sort of via VoodooHDA 2.8.7)
- Sleep (seems to be operating normally)
- Touchpad (seems to work okay with two-finger scrolling but no select on touchpad)
- WIFI (worked oob with Atheros 9280)

Not tested yet
- Screen brightness
- LAN
- Card Reader
- Webcam/Mic

Install the bootloader to HDD2. Set BIOS boot priority to favor HDD2 over HDD1.

Just a quick (hopefully) question. I am still working out a few of the kinks in the system and one of them is my keyboard/trackpad. The issue with the keyboard is that I don't have a full keyboard, meaning that it is not showing as extended. The trackpad works well with two-finger scrolling but I can not select by tapping on the pad.

I have read and installed the VoodooPS2Controller and VoodooPS2Daemon but I still don't seem to get a full keyboard.

Is there something I am missing? I assume there probably is.

BTW...I am currently using the Canadian English keyboard but have also tried the US extended.
