I've tried Funter, DesktopUtility, and manually entering the Terminal commands. After each, I've rebooted my machine (just in case).

I have an old-ish build, based off Yo Mang's guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/showthread.php?t=64346&referrerid=155626

There is no combination of tricks that allow me to see hidden files in my Finder. Each time Finder restarts, it just remains as if nothing ever happened. It's driving me nuts!

Any ideas?

Grab ShowAllFiles in the Downloads menu (Downloads > Community Software).

Well... this doesn't make me happy... but I found a "solution".

I installed TotalFinder, used it's built in "Show System Files" option, then uninstalled TotalFinder.

Now when I try the normal Terminal method to rehide the files/folders... it doesn't work! I guess TotalFinder is my only hope.

I use TotalFinder and love it for both my Mavericks and Yosemite installations.

Another good one most don't know about is Tinker Tool by Marcel Bresink.
